About me and my therapy practice
I am an integrative counsellor with a person-centred foundation, which means my work is led by you and your individual needs. I believe in taking a whole-person approach, recognising that your experiences, relationships, health and environment all play a part in how you feel.
I aim to offer a warm, compassionate and non-judgemental space where you feel safe to talk openly and at your own pace. Building a trusting therapeutic relationship is at the heart of my work.
I may draw on different therapeutic approaches where it is helpful, but always in a way that feels comfortable and manageable for you. I also recognise the importance of flexibility, particularly for those living with long-term health conditions, and sessions can be adapted accordingly.
Practice description
I have experience working with adults, children and young people from a wide range of backgrounds, offering both short-term and long-term counselling.
I work with a variety of presenting issues, including anxiety, low mood, relationship problems, bereavement and loss. I also have significant experience working with people living with long-term health conditions, including ME/CFS. I understand how chronic illness can impact emotional wellbeing, identity and relationships and I aim to provide a space where these experiences are understood and validated.
My professional experience includes working in schools, a GP practice, the charitable sector, Employment Assistance Programmes (EAP), and private practice.
I offer sessions face-to-face, online (Zoom or Teams), or by telephone.
I am naturally a warm and approachable person and aim to help you feel at ease from the very first contact.
My first session
I offer a free 20-minute initial consultation, giving us the opportunity to briefly explore what has brought you to counselling, what you would like to gain from the process and to see whether working together feels right for you.
If you decide to go ahead, our first full session will include an opportunity to talk in more depth about what you would like support with. We will also go through the counselling agreement, which explains important aspects such as confidentiality, so that you feel clear and comfortable before beginning the work.
I aim to create a relaxed and supportive environment from the outset, allowing you to share at your own pace, without pressure.
