Hello, I’m A.J. I work on Sundays, Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays, daytimes and evenings. Counselling is online via Zoom video calls.

The first session is free of charge. To find out more, message me or call me - I'll be glad to help.

About me and my therapy practice

I’m an amiable, inclusive therapist, counselling adults and children since 2005. If you’re weighed down, I help you feel believed. My specialism is listening so that you can develop new self-understanding. I've worked extensively with survivors of harmful childhood experiences, domestic abuse, faith issues or loss; I've also worked in schools and in a college for autistic adults. I'm trained in pre-trial therapy for survivors of abuse or other crimes.

This service offers a warm, affirmative welcome to people with diverse identities and different ways of communicating.

Practice description

If you’ve felt overwhelmed by the world around you, or by the world of your mind; if you think people don’t get you, and you just want to feel at home in your own life... then you’ll be seeking a therapist who is able to see from your perspective, and interact in a way that helps you see yourself anew.

If you’ve been hurt or used, you’ll have feelings you think no-one wants to hear – maybe you’re struggling to face them yourself... counselling helps you to incorporate those feelings so they become a source of strength.

In sessions, you may simply want to talk and be heard; at other times, you may prefer the flow of a conversation.

It's you who decides what to talk about… clients have told me they appreciate a counsellor who follows their lead, but who also helps them focus on the road they want to travel along - someone who has an informed understanding of the human mind.

Therapy has its own terminology – I only use this when it helps to make things clearer; the language of real human life is wholeheartedly encouraged.

My first session

The first consultation is free. You can tell me about yourself and your reasons for seeking therapy, and check I’m the right counsellor for you. Any questions you have about my approach and the sessions are definitely welcome.

For people aged under 18, their parent or carer can request a free initial conversation. This service has procedures in place to ensure children’s safety.

Counselling helps you reflect – at your tempo – on what’s happened to you, and how that affects you; and how you can live life in all its wonder. Contact me if this is what you need, and good luck in your search.

About me and my therapy practice

Supervision is a breathing space for you as a counsellor and human being, to attend to your self in practice; to reflect on your clients; and to learn from your encounters and emotional responses. Sessions welcome your voice, your thoughts and feelings. At its best, supervision is as a space that enables you to feel curious and excited about your work, and to see your clients in a new light.

I can provide supervision to either trainee counsellors (at a reduced fee) or qualified counsellors.

Practice description

I am a person-centred therapist with experience of:

• supervising individual counsellors with different approaches

• providing training on-placement to student counsellors

• co-ordinating a district network of counsellors

• counselling clients aged from 7 to 77 with a variety of needs

Previous supervisees said I provide a trustworthy, safe and engaging ethos which they have carried into their work with clients; and where they feel both supported and freed to develop.

My first session

If you’re looking for a reflective, non-judgemental supervisor, do get in contact for a free initial discussion – you can tell me about your work, ask me about me, and then consider in your own time whether you wish to set up regular meetings. Thank you!
