About me and my therapy practice
Hello, I’m A.J.: a personable, experienced counsellor with a gentle approach to listening. I will help you feel safe, welcome, and believed: whether you’re overwhelmed by emotions, or feeling numb, or dealing with relationships, families, and life’s demands.
I’ve been counselling since I qualified in 2006, and I’ve worked significantly with survivors of abuse and loss. I have an informed, in-depth understanding of the human response to trauma; and I love learning how words can empower and revitalise a person, especially when shared with a compassionate and curious therapist.
Practice descriptionIf something doesn’t feel right in your life; or if you’re feeling disconnected somehow; then counselling is a confidential space where you can understand and value yourself more, and find meaning amongst your memories. You can unpack your worries at a safe pace; nourish your hopes; or explore how past experiences have affected or transformed you. Over time, your mind adapts so you feel readier to deal with some of the knotty stuff that comes your way. Have a look at my website to find out more: www.ajquarmbycounselling.co.uk – thank you!
My first session
You might not have talked with a counsellor before; I know this might be a big step. So I aim to demystify the counselling process: I’ll give you an idea up-front about what therapy might look like, and help you choose what you’d like to do. Above all, we will find a way that works for you. The first call with me is free and lasts for up to half an hour.
