About me and my therapy practice
Hello, I'm Annie and I've been a Person-Centred Therapist for 13 years, having worked as a Registered Nurse for many years before this, with a particular interest in palliative care, and most recently as a Diabetes Specialist Nurse at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital.
I’ve worked in in public, private, academic and voluntary settings.
I work in central Wymondham, Norfolk UK and offer both in person and online appointments.
Firmly rooted in the Person-Centred Approach, my unique way of working is infused with and influenced by Compassion-Focussed Therapy, Polyvagal Theory, Dreamwork, Mindfulness, Trauma Informed therapy, and Somatic Oriented Therapy as well as some of the great Wisdom traditions of the world.
I believe that we all can grow and heal when we are witnessed, heard, accepted and valued, and my experience reminds me daily that this is so.
Working together, I will bring all aspects of my self and the richness of my experience to help you find your way back to yourself, often lost or become buried under years of social conditioning and trauma.
This brings the possibility of a life that is enriching, satisfying, creative and yes, joy filled.
Practice description
Areas that I work with include, though are not limited to, anxiety and fears, (including panic attacks, Generalised anxiety disorder (GAD), Social anxiety), feeling sad, experiencing grief and loss, depression, relationship difficulties, chronic illness or burnout, life transitions including Menopause, parenthood, childlessness, retirement, study and career difficulties, perfectionism, unhelpful habitual responses and behaviours, dreams/nightmares.
Personal growth and development is also an important aspect of my work.
I offer short (up to 6 sessions) and long-term therapy depending on your requirements.
I write and use art materials as a means of personal exploration - you are also welcome to use these ways of communicating and exploring in our work together should you wish to.
If you decide to work with me, we will adventure together into the unknown, and make discoveries together. I offer you relationship that is caring, compassionate and committed to your well-being and self-discovery.

My first session
Our first session is a no-obligation appointment where we can meet and you can begin to tell me about yourself and find out more about the way I work and get an idea of what counselling with me might be like.
At the end of the session you are free to decide if you'd like to work with me or not. If you decide to stay, we can look at our diaries and set dates and times together.
I charge £63 for this session before 4pm, £70 after 4pm.
I realise this may feel like a big step so if you'd prefer, I offer a free 10 minute 'clarity' call by phone or Zoom if you would like to meet me or ask me any questions before deciding to arrange an full appointment.
I will be delighted to hear from you and what brings you to counselling. It’s important for both of us that you feel connection with me in order to get the most from your counselling. Just call me on 07813 723254 or mail me at annie.pointer@yahoo.com to arrange this.
