About me and my therapy practice
I am a Level 1 and Level 2 trained Internal Family Systems (IFS) Therapist. My original training was in the Relational approach which sits well with IFS.
IFS is a gentle and compassionate way of understanding and being with yourself and can bring transformative healing.
The main concepts are:
We all have a self which is calm, connected, courageous and brings clarity amongst others qualities.
We all have many parts or aspects of our personality.
You may notice, for example, if a wave of anger comes over you that it feels like something else is in the driving seat in that moment. This is a part of you trying to help you do life.
All parts of us are trying to help our system.
All parts are welcome.
IFS provides a framework to connect with our parts to allow healing and a more self-lead life Vs parts trying to run your life. These parts have had to adapt to cope with growing up or traumatic events and can often become outdated or too dominant. They believe it's the only way you can survive. You can be guided to learn to get to know your parts so that self can 'do your life' with the guidance and wisdom of your parts.
If you often feel miserable, angry, low in mood, carry guilt, anxiety or your relationships keep going wrong IFS is a compassionate way for exploring and healing this. You may have suffered a boundary experience such as bereavement, divorce or redundancy. Once you have learned this model, you can carry it forward with you to lead a more fulfilled life.

About me and my therapy practice
I have worked in NHS IAPT, Third Sector agencies such as Cruse Bereavement, BARCA and Primary and Secondary schools as a parent and child therapist. Please note, I do not see children of primary school age.
I am BACP Accredited Relational Practitioner and a Level 2 trained Internal Family Systems therapist. I qualified at the Northern Guild of Psychotherapy as a Psychotherapeutic Counseller of Children and Adolescents. I am Bupa, Axa and WPA registered.
It is important to me that you feel accepted and safe with me at what is most likely a vulnerable time and I work at your pace to build a trusting, confidential relationship. I also encourage self-care in the people I see.
You may be at a crossroads in your life, have experienced a life event such as bereavement, redundancy, retirement, family breakdown or be in need of a space to share what you are going through. Maybe you have felt unhappy all of your life and don't know why? These things can be explored safely in therapy to help you understand yourself and to get what you want from life.
The Internal Family Systems model (IFS) is a kind, respectful, deeply healing model which recognises that we all have many different aspects of our personality (or parts) and we all have a self. IFS compassionately explores how these parts work together or (within internal conflicts) against each other. This can bring internal balance and understanding. This model is a trauma release model.
My initial training was as a Relational Practitioner, looking at repeated relational patterns and how past relationships may be impacting on present relationships. This helps to gain greater clarity about current situations. The Relational modality fits well with my IFS training.
I use sand tray, a way to visually make sense of personal situations or feelings. I work collaboratively with you to tailor the work to your needs.
I am currently offering in person sessions or remote sessions on doxy.me, a secure video conferencing platform
