About me and my therapy practice
Hello. My name is Lucy. Welcome to my profile. I am an Integrative Psychotherapist and a Developmental Psychologist. I am also an Existential and Mindfulness Coach. I have also qualified as a Positive Psychology and health coach. Within this role, I specialise in menopause coaching.
As an Integrative Psychotherapist, I value people as having unique and individual needs, and therefore do not believe that one cap fits all. The theories that make up my therapeutic framework include Person-centred Counseling which originates from Existential philosophy, Psychodynamics therapy, and CBT based therapies such as Acceptance Commitment Therapy. I also have extensive training in Existential and Jungian therapies.
Originating from this background as an Integrative Psychotherapist, I have gained much experience working in substance abuse residential services and CAMHS (Children and Adolescent Mental Health Services) as well as numerous other organizations. These have included domestic violence support services and women’s shelters.
My experience as a developmental psychologist and my work with both children and young people as well as adults have given me a wider understanding, overview and knowledge on how a variety of issues interact with each other and the wider environment throughout different life stages.
By drawing from various therapeutic techniques, I am able to adapt my work to support people presenting with a variety of different struggles. I therefore apply numerous tools in order to support people through their healing process.
Practice description
I offer both short-term and long-term online counseling sessions which typically last 50 minutes each. I have experience in working on different online modalities such as live video, text, and telephone. I offer a Person-centred relationship to all my sessions in which I supply a safe, empathic, and non-judgmental environment in which you are invited to discuss your concerns as openly as possible. I apply a life course approach to my work to enable me to acquire a more detailed picture of your developmental history.
My first session
At the start of my first session with you, I establish a therapeutic contract that details what to expect from working together and that sets out the confidentiality issues and limitations. I also collaboratively set achievable and manageable goals with you to explore the issues that matter the most to you. I carry out assessment tools when appropriate and in accordance with your presenting difficulties and goals that we have set together .
