About me and my therapy practice
Hello, Perhaps there's a part of you trying so hard to resolve some personal and emotional difficulty? Maybe it's a part of you that feels alone, distressed, abandoned, angry... Perhaps you've had years of struggle, coping with protective parts of you. You may feel panic, anxiety, confusion, distress.
This could be in your relationships, in family life, or socially, professionally. Perhaps you have locked inside some emotional trauma - abuse, bullying, abandonment. These parts keep replaying the same symptoms. So you show up with fear, avoidance, rumination, dissociation, poor memory, you feel unlovable, ashamed, defeated and traumatised.
I often trauma-informed psychotherapy and counselling. What this involves, is we get to know the parts of you that are suffering and witness, validate and be present. This is a trauma-informed approach using Internal Family Systems therapy and EMDR therapy. We can use guided imagery, meditations, resourcing, and other ways to heal your nervous system.
I am accredited with EMDR Europe and the EMDR Association UK, and trained to Level 3 with the IFS Institute. This is the full approved trainings for both IFS and EMDR. Prior to developing as a trauma psychotherapist i was a clinical nurse specialist in the NHS. I spent many years training with a Jungian therapy group in London.
Practice description
IFS creates a safe, respectful way of getting to know these parts, helping them feel seen, heard, and no longer alone with what they carry. EMDR and IFS together are particularly effective for emotional trauma, abuse, neglect, bullying, abandonment, and the long-term effects of difficult relationships.
I am accredited with EMDR Europe and the EMDR Association UK, and trained to Levels 1 & 2 with the IFS Institute. I hold NHS registration and an Enhanced DBS. Alongside EMDR and IFS, I may use tapping, guided meditation, and visualisation to: Resolve traumatic memories; Rescue and re-parent your inner child; Release burdens from ancestral legacies
I have worked clinically in the NHS for 20 yrs in liaison psychiatry and with GPs. I have completed training with the IFS Institute, to level three, and am accredited with EMDR Europe and the UK Association. Additionally i have completed Attachment-informed EMDR training.
I also specialise in: Codependency where you may abandon yourself to meet others' needs Narcissistic abuse recovery supporting you in reclaiming voice, boundaries, and trust.
Outside my therapeutic work, I'm a writer and a judge for the Orwell Prize.
