Hi I have some flexibility and usually I'm available during the week and some evenings.

 I look forward to hearing from you. If you email or call we can arrange and initial free appointment.

About me and my therapy practice

Hi, I can offer trauma-focused psychotherapy, to help with anxiety and depression, complex trauma histories, panic, OCD, rumination, C-PTSD, dissociation, feeling usafe, somatic issues (pain, fatigue, migraines) and social and relationship problems. I integrate two established trauma-focused therapies.

The first is Internal Family Systems (IFS) & the second is EMDR. Trauma-informed therapy helps you let go of emotional burdens, and history of all types of abuse and neglect, at a deep level. I am an IFS Institute Level-3 therapist & an EMDR UK accredited practitioner.

Most mental health problems can be seen through the lens of emotional trauma and suffering. The nervous system often carries wounds and we can heal these parts using Internal Family Systems therapy. We can unburden you of your suffering not only by insight but by internal healing. I can help you with traumatic memories using EMDR techniques.

I can help you process emotional trauma, somatic pain, abuse, neglect, fears, bullying, any psychological issue which causes suffering. Together we explore how you adapted to survive, and how these protective parts overdo it. I have an interest in helping you with scapegoating, abuse, bullying, healing from narcissistic abuse and codependency.

Practice description

 Hi, I offer trauma-focused counselling and therapy online.

Connecting Everyday Struggles to Past Trauma

When you seek help for your problems, it is often to remove symptoms ie depression rather than see the emotional trauma behind the problem. However, when we suffer emotional trauma, our nervous system adapts to help us survive. To protect us, it creates protective parts. So what we experience today as a  mental or physical health condition is often our nervous system running a survival adaptation.

To clarify this link, we can look at how specific root traumas shape the protective responses that manifest as the everyday conditions you might be experiencing today:

*
Abuse, neglect, or mistreatment drives a protective need to shrink and stay invisible, low self-esteem, avoidance, depression, fear of people.

*
Abandonment, fear, and panic where the nervous system remains on alert to maintain attachment, which can develop into hypervigilance, anger, or fawning and people-pleasing.

*
Traumatic relationships, invalidation, manipulation, or gaslighting  prompt the nervous system to protect itself from further betrayal, resulting in 'is it me?' moments, self-distrust, giving up, and avoidance of intimacy.

*
Feeling scapegoated, trapped, or controlled overwhelms our sense of safety inviting the nervous system into protective states of dissociation, obsessive thinking, hopelessness and collapse.

Traditional talk therapy is an excellent foundation for understanding why these patterns exist. A trauma-informed approach builds on this by respectfully and compassionately being present with, witnessing, and validating these symptoms, rather than just trying to get rid of them or manage them.

My first session

I offer an initial confidential 30-minute discussion on Zoom for free.

 I integrate two leading, evidence-based therapies:

*
Internal Family Systems (IFS): A compassionate trauma therapy where we safely befriend our 'symptoms' like anxiety, hypervigilance, avoidance, or shame. Healing becomes presence, witnessing and relationship.

*
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing): This trauma protocol helps the nervous system reprocess adverse memories, resolving the physical and emotional distress attached to those memories.

My Background & Credentials
I am an IFS Institute Level-3 therapist and an EMDR Europe Accredited Practitioner.

  I have an NHS background in liaison psychiatry—the specialist field bridging physical health and the body.  In the same way, we can see how trauma often has an impact on our mental and physical well-being.
  Authentic healing happens within a therapeutic relationship built on compassion and the belief that there are 'no bad parts' of you—only parts of your nervous system that have been trying to help you survive.
