About me and my therapy practice

I am an experienced therapist and clinical supervisor.

I offer professional, high quality and confidential counselling to adults in a welcoming, safe and comfortable environment, with the possibility of long or short term work.

I work in an open and non judgemental manner and offer warmth, empathy, clear thinking and insight.

I aim to recognise the experience of each individual, and to treat them with respect and integrity, without making assumptions based on class, ability or disability, gender, sexuality and ethnicity.

I offer clinical supervision to therapists and healthcare professionals.

Practice description

Difficulties in later life can be rooted in past experiences, and these can affect your confidence, feelings of anxiety your relationships with family and friends, work or studies, ideas about what you can and can't do, and maybe who you can and can't be.

Events during our life, including trauma and bereavement can also cause distress, which may manifest in different ways.

Talking therapy provides an opportunity to talk and be listened to by a professionally trained therapist, someone who is not connected to your family, friends or work. This can feel easier than talking to someone who knows you well. Over time, the counselling relationship grows, increasing feelings of safety, security and trust develop,

I offer a safe, confidential, reliable and professional service. I am experienced in working with individuals with a range of difficulties. I work in an open and non-judgemental manner, and I will listen and support you as you explore your feelings, help you to reach understanding, and work towards change, and improving your quality of life.

My first session

After your initial enquiry, I will contact you to schedule a telephone call, and we can talk through in more detail why you are seeking support, and I will ask some questions to find out a little more about you.  You will also have the opportunity to ask questions.  There is no charge for this initial consultation.

After this call, we may decide to arrange an initial assessment meeting, either in person or on zoom.  This will give us the opportunity to talk in more detail, and for you to get a feel for how sessions might be, and how I work.

Prior to out meeting, I will send you a brief assessment form asking for some basic information which will help me when we meet.

About me and my therapy practice

I offer clinical Supervision to qualified and trainee therapists, those in the helping professions, and those working in demanding roles who feel they would benefit from some time, space, support and reflective practice.

I have experience of supervising therapists and trainee therapists in private practice, in organisations, in hospital and hospice settings. I have also supervised healthcare and education professionals, and those working in the ‘helping professions’ including hospital chaplains.

My background is psychodynamic and my supervision training and practice is integrative.

I work with individuals offering 1:1 supervision, or group supervision.

Practice description

My aim is to create a good supervisory relationship with you, where you feel safe and supported.

I work collaboratively, and will be thinking about, you, your relationship with the client and what you both bring to the therapeutic relationship.

Supervision with me will offer support to you in numerous ways: promoting and maintaining safe, ethical and professional practice, the opportunity to collaborate with another professional to think creatively about your own practice, to reflect on practice and practical issues, to explore the impact of culture, class, ethnicity, power, gender and sexuality in our work, to develop clinical skills, and to consider personal and professional boundaries.

It is also important to focus on the impact of working alongside individuals in distress, supporting you to find ways to work safely and effectively.

In my experience good supervision promotes professional and skills development, can sustain wellbeing and enhance resilience.

My first session

After your initial enquiry, I  suggest we arrange a consultation, online or by ‘phone.

this provides an opportunity for you to describe your practice, what you are seeking from supervision, and ask me any questions you may have.   I will  describe how I work, ask you some questions to help me understand you, your practice and needs better, and we can see if we think we can work together.

There is no charge at this stage.

Thereafter, during our first Supervision session, we can contract- agree the details about our supervisory relationship.
