About me and my therapy practice
I offer a safe and confidential place to explore important and sensitive issues, both in person and online via Zoom. At my counselling practice rooms in Bath these are some of the issues I work with:
Couples Counselling/Relationship problems
Anxiety and stress
Depression
Low self confidence
Bereavement or loss
Sexual abuse
Counselling and psychotherapy can help us to understand our problems and ourselves so that we can make changes in our lives. Whilst addressing problems, counselling can also bring personal and spiritual growth.
We can learn to manage our lives in more fulfilling ways and realise our full potential. All of us feel worried or depressed at some time. Sometimes we may feel overwhelmed and that we cannot cope anymore. Perhaps we see that we are repeating the same mistakes and want to understand ourselves better to change this pattern. Working with a counsellor is an opportunity for you to talk about whatever is troubling you.
By helping you to draw on your own strengths, a qualified and experienced therapist can help you to approach your life in a fresh way. Through this process you can learn something about yourself and how you view the world and therefore have the power to change something if you want to.
Practice description
The first counselling appointment is a ‘one off’ session for both of us to decide whether we want to work together. Following this meeting we agree on a working contract to meet once a week at the same time. Every few weeks we review the situation together. You bring whatever problem or issue you have to talk about on a one to one basis in a private and confidential setting.
I will not be judgemental or tell you what to do. I work primarily in a person centred and integrative way which means that I will help you to help yourself. I work in an holistic way too, taking the whole person into consideration, mind, body, and spirit. I am a qualified and experienced person centred therapist (over 30 years). I am a Registered Counsellor and Individual Member of the BACP. I abide by its Ethical Framework. I am supervised and insured.
My first session
The first session is a time for us to meet each other and for you to see how I work. It is a proper session. You can decide after this initial consultation if you wish to continue working with me or not. I will ask you to read and sign a very straight forward contract and ask for your contact details. I do not do a clinical assessment.
