About me and my therapy practice
A fully qualified and experienced, MBACP registered Counsellor and Psychotherapist working in private practice since 2009.- I offer both short and longer-term counselling and psychotherapy to individuals, couples and families. As a member of BACP I adhere strictly to the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy Code of Ethics, and pride myself on practicing to the highest ethical standards.
With an honest and open approach, I provide a confidential, supportive and safe space - where people can discuss and explore their personal issues, their choices, their behaviours, their thoughts, their beliefs and feelings - without fear of judgement, reproach or discrimination. At the heart of my work is a belief in the importance of relationship, safety and trust as the foundation for meaningful therapeutic change.
I draw primarily from Humanistic and Psychodynamic traditions, alongside a range of evidence-based and creative ways of working. My approach is flexible and responsive, shaped by the needs of each individual rather than a fixed method.
Depending on what feels most helpful, this may include elements of person-centred, psychodynamic, existential and transactional analysis approaches, as well as CBT, somatic and body-based work, attachment-informed and systemic perspectives, parts work, and mindfulness-based practices.
Working in this way allows me to meet each client as a unique individual. Together, we can explore experiences in depth, gently understand patterns that may be influencing the present, and support movement towards greater clarity, self-understanding and change – at a pace that feels right for you.
People come to therapy for many different reasons. My focus is always on you and what you bring into the therapy space, offering a collaborative, attuned and supportive environment where exploration, growth and change can unfold safely.
My first session
Your initial session will provide an opportunity for us to get to know each other and for you to get a feeling for what it might be like to be in therapy. We will explore what has led you to seek therapy at this time, as well as giving you an opportunity to discuss your expectations, hopes and concerns about therapy.
Towards the end of our first session we will discuss how it was working together, how you feel the session went, and if and how we might continue working together.
If you decide you would like to try a different therapist I will not be offended in any way and you are under no obligation. All therapists work in a unique way, and it is important that you find the right therapist for you
