About me and my therapy practice

I’m a registered psychotherapist and counsellor with over 15 years of experience supporting people with many different kinds of challenges. I’m a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and I’m registered with the UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP). That means I’m fully insured and work within their ethical guidelines, including ongoing supervision and regular training to keep my practice up to date.

My practice is based in Farnsfield, near Southwell (NG22). It’s a quiet, comfortable space that offers plenty of privacy, and there’s free off street parking too.

I understand that choosing to come to counselling takes courage, and it’s a big commitment of your time, energy and money. That’s why it matters to me that you feel informed and comfortable before making that choice. You can visit nataliecoupland.co.uk for more information, but if there’s anything else you’d like to know, please feel free to get in touch with me directly.

Practice description

How can I help?

As a therapist, my role isn’t to give you all the answers — I don’t have them, and therapy isn’t about being told what to do. I don’t arrive with a plan for who you should be or how you should live. Instead, we work collaboratively, side by side, in a confidential and supportive space where you can feel safe, respected, and able to explore your experience at your own pace. The aim is to help you develop a deeper understanding of yourself, because it’s from that understanding that real, lasting change begins to emerge.

I believe everyone has the capacity to grow and move toward a more fulfilling way of living, but life’s challenges can sometimes make that feel out of reach. Stress, trauma, or old patterns can leave you feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or behaving in ways that don’t really support your wellbeing or relationships. When things feel heavy or confusing, talking with someone who’s trained to listen can make a real difference.

My first session

The first session is a chance for both of us to see whether counselling feels like the right fit for you. You’ll get a feel for what it’s like to work with me and, most importantly, whether you feel comfortable talking with me. It’s also an opportunity to learn more about how therapy works, what you’re hoping to get from it, and any concerns you might have. If I feel your needs would be better supported by someone with different expertise, I’ll be honest about that and help you find a more suitable therapist. Because this session is an important part of the assessment process, the usual fee applies.

There’s no pressure to continue afterwards. If you do decide to go ahead, we’ll arrange ongoing sessions and check in regularly about how things are progressing. We can work for a set number of sessions or keep things open ended, depending on what feels right for you. Weekly sessions tend to work best, though I can usually offer some flexibility around work or family commitments. Sessions last 50 minutes, with a few minutes at the beginning or end for any admin.

What next?

You’re welcome to get in touch on 07952892458 or by emailing nataliecoupland@outlook.com. In our first short phone call or email exchange, I’ll ask for a brief sense of what’s bringing you to counselling, and from there we can arrange an initial session.

About me and my therapy practice

Supervision statement

I hold a Post- Graduate Certificate (2017) in Counselling Supervision and offer supervision to individual practitioners qualified to diploma level or above who belong to a professional body such as BACP or UKCP. Fees are £65 per 60 minute session.

My role as supervisor

My aim as a supervisor is to engage in a relational exploration of the supervisee's experience of their work in line with my Humanistic stance as a therapist. I focus on relationships between supervisee and client, supervisee and therapy context and supervisee and myself, whilst being respectful of the client's story. My intention is to facilitate a process which is collaborative, relevant and beneficial. I take seriously my role as "gate keeper" to the profession in terms of awareness of good practice guidelines and the ethical protection of clients. However, I hope to support a move away from reliance on external evaluation and encourage supervisees' development of an internal measure of their professional capabilities and responsibilities. I see supervision as a space for reflection, an opportunity for mutual learning and a chance to celebrate what's been done well.

Please contact me to arrange an initial "mutual assessment" appointment

This is free of charge and I would anticipate lasting approximately 1 hour. Fees thereafter are £65 per hour session.
