About me and my therapy practice
I specialise in working with people who experience intense emotions, rapid shifts in mood and patterns of behaviour or relationships that feel overwhelming or hard to control. Many of the people I work with have lived with long-standing emotional dysregulation, often alongside trauma, neurodivergence, self-harm, impulsivity or unstable relationships.
My approach is compassionate, structured and evidence-informed. I work primarily within team-based Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) and Mentalization-Based Treatment (MBT) approaches specifically designed to support people whose nervous systems and emotional worlds feel highly reactive or difficult to manage. These models focus on building safety, understanding emotional triggers and developing skills that support greater stability over time.
Therapy begins with a thorough assessment, helping us understand your experiences, risks, strengths and goals. From there, we collaboratively create a treatment plan that may include individual therapy, skills groups, coaching support and structured reviews, all held within a consistent and well-supported team framework.
Alongside skills and structure, I place strong emphasis on understanding your inner experience. Using mentalization, we explore how emotions, thoughts and relationships interact, especially under stress. This helps reduce shame and increase choice so reactions that once felt automatic can gradually become more understandable and manageable.
I aim to offer a balance of validation and change. Therapy is a space where your experiences are taken seriously, while also supporting you to build emotional regulation, relational stability and a stronger sense of agency. My goal is to help you move toward a life that feels safer, steadier and more connected, both internally and in your relationships.
Practice description
My practice provides structured, psychological therapy for adults who experience ongoing difficulties with emotion regulation. Support is designed for people whose emotions can feel overwhelming or difficult to manage, often impacting relationships, behaviour, and daily functioning.
Services are delivered through established, evidence-based pathways, primarily Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) and Mentalization-Based Treatment (MBT). DBT is particularly suited to people experiencing difficulties commonly associated with Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD), complex trauma, ADHD, and related patterns such as impulsivity, emotional instability, self-harm, or intense relational stress. MBT is suitable for those who benefit from a focus on understanding emotions, thoughts and relationships, especially under stress.
I work within a clinical structure that is supported by regular consultation and supervision. This approach strengthens consistency, reduces risk, and provides a more robust level of support.
My practice draws on experience across NHS, community and private settings and I'm committed to ethical practice, ongoing training and evidence-based delivery. Referrals are welcomed from individuals and professionals seeking specialist support for emotion regulation difficulties.
My first session
Clients can expect a clear and transparent process. This includes an initial assessment to determine suitability and needs, followed by a structured treatment plan. Depending on the programme, this may involve individual therapy, group-based skills work and regular reviews to support progress.
