About me and my therapy practice
Before becoming a therapist I worked in the Criminal Justice System and, before that, in various mental health settings with homeless people who suffered with severe mental health diagnoses and substance misuse issues.
My family background is one that involved the arts, particularly the theatre, and so I know well many of the challenges faced by actors, artists and writers.
I have been working as a therapist since 2013 and have experience in various different contexts – from private practice to working in the NHS. I have also taught on psychotherapy trainings at Regent’s University London and the Metanoia Institute. I am currently a member of the UKCP Board of Ethics
Practice description
I am an existentially informed, psychotherapist. As such, I understand being a person through a philosophical rather than psychological lens and so consider living as a challenging endeavour. I think, therefore, that therapy is, at its core, a process of finding a way of coming to terms with yourself in the world that feels not only bearable but also hopeful.
I aim to offer a space in which, through dialogue, we can try to make sense of things by paying close attention to your lived experience of the past and present, to see what might be newly understood or revealed for the future. The hope is that this allows for new possibilities of living an easier, or perhaps better, life
My first session
I offer weekly sessions at the same time on the same day, and therapy lasts as long as it takes for you to feel ready to end. There is no minimum or maximum time, and the decision to end or not is in your hands.
I offer therapy both in-person – near Liverpool Street and in Teddington – and online. I offer an initial session without charge so we can see how we are together, and you can get sense of how it will be to be in therapy with me.
If you would like to be in touch to either ask anything further or to set up an initial meeting please feel welcome to email me or fill out the contact form below and I will endeavour to get back to you within 48 hours
