About me and my therapy practice

I am a fully qualified counsellor and relationship therapist. I have worked as a specialist nurse within the NHS for more than thirty years. I therefore bring  many years of experience working with people in difficult or challenging situations.

When we are hurt, angry, exhausted or just generally depleted by life it can be impossible to make any sense of our thoughts. However, we are all experts in our own lives and sometimes what we need is a safe space in which to unravel the confusion. Establishing some clarity about our situation can help to reveal the way forward. My aim is to be as authentic as possible and it is common for sessions to include humour even whilst dealing with the most challenging of situations. If I am honest and genuine in my responses I  hope that you can feel more free to explore exactly what is concerning you.

Practice description

I work online and also face-to face at a practice just outside Oxford.

I offer the chance to speak on the phone for 15-20 minutes before making an appointment if you would find this helpful.

I completely understand that it can feel daunting sharing your experiences, fears and hopes with someone new. I aim to create as safe and welcoming an environment as possible whether we meet online or in person.

My first session

I recognise that taking the first steps to seek support when you may be feeling anxious and vulnerable can be very hard. It does mean, once you have made contact that you are already half way to finding a way forward.

It is important for me to gain a good grasp of the situation you are facing, whether this is as an individual, in a relationship or seeking sex therapy. The first session will therefore be looking at whether I can help. If not, I may be able to suggest another source of support.
