About me and my therapy practice
Thank you for reading on…
I am a highly experienced coach, counsellor and trainer. I am an accredited member of the BACP and have been in private practice since 2011.
I work in an integrative way, which means that I tailor our work to meet your needs. The sessions therefore focus on the issues, experiences, and goals that you want to address.
As you will see, in the list below, I have experience with most of the areas covered by counselling, and I have a particular expertise and personal experience of bereavement and loss, trauma, neurodivergence, and chronic illness.
Chronic illness
I have personal and professional experience of supporting someone with a chronic illness. I know that there is life where people are ill and there is a life of chronic illness. The two are quite different. Someone with a chronic illness can often be misrepresented by those who make assumptions about them. The world can be judgmental and unkind. I promise I will not judge you, and I will believe you.
Neurodivergence
I have worked a great deal with individuals who are neurodivergent. I have a diagnosis of ADHD, and know and understand how difficult it can be to feel different and have a unique way of being in the world. I promise when we work together, I will endeavour to see the world through your eyes, and to my fellow ADHDers, there will be no discussion of purchasing planners.
Bereavement & Loss
If we live and love we will experience grief for those we have loved and lost, however we lose them. I know the journey of grief, and I have supported many individuals through it. We might all grieve, but we do it in our own way. I know that we can go through similar feelings, but our journeys reflect the life we lead; we remain who we are even in grief.
Practice description
I work online and in counselling rooms in Tunbridge Wells and London Bridge.
I am a trained Humanistic counsellor, and my practice reflects the core values of that philosophy. What this means in practice is that I work to enable you to live your life the way you want, which reflects your authentic self, and makes your life a happier one.
I always prioritise creating a trusting and caring relationship with every client, and my approach in the counselling room is non-judgemental, honest, collaborative, and always supportive of your autonomy.
We are two experts in the room: I bring my expertise and experience from years of counselling, and you bring an expert knowledge of your life experiences and the parts of your life you want to change.
My first session
Our first session will be free and will last 40 minutes. I will take some personal details and a short relevant history, and we will get a sense of how we would work together.
Ultimately I want to help you find the best way to meet your wants, needs, and goals through counselling.
I look forward to hearing from you, by text, email, or phone.
