Availability
I currently have availability for sessions online and face to face. I work time limited or open ended. I am available to do EAP work, my normal working days are Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday but I am open to working evenings and weekends if arranged at least a month in advance.
About me and my therapy practice
I am a fully qualified and insured Integrative Counsellor, offering a personalised approach to therapy that is tailored to your individual needs and circumstances. As an integrative practitioner, I draw on a range of evidence-based therapeutic approaches, selecting the methods that are most appropriate for you rather than applying a single model to every client.
I have experience supporting individuals with a wide range of difficulties, including anxiety, depression, severe and enduring mental health conditions, physical health challenges, sexuality and identity-related issues, trauma (including PTSD and Complex PTSD), HIV and AIDS, bereavement and baby loss, as well as many other personal and life challenges.
Above all, I recognise that every client is unique. Rather than focusing solely on presenting issues or diagnoses, I take the time to understand you as an individual and tailor my support accordingly.
Practice description
I believe that effective counselling is built on a collaborative therapeutic relationship. We will work together to explore your concerns, identify your goals, and develop an approach that feels comfortable and beneficial for you. While I may suggest particular techniques or interventions, your preferences and choices will always be respected, and we will agree on the direction of our work together. My practice is in Munlochy and sessions take place in my therapy room. The space offers a real fire and views across the countryside to allow for a relaxing space connected to nature and the outdoors. In good weather sessions can be held outside and I offer walk and talk therapy where appropriate and accessible.
My first session
At the beginning of our first session, we will spend some time getting to know one another and I will carry out an initial assessment. This gives me an opportunity to learn a little more about you, what has brought you to counselling, and what you hope to gain from our work together.
I will also talk you through our counselling agreement, including what you can expect from me and what I ask of you. There will, of course, be plenty of opportunity for you to ask questions or raise anything you are unsure about.
During our conversation, I may make a few brief notes about areas such as family relationships, significant life events, work, interests, and anything else that may be relevant to understanding you and building our therapeutic relationship.
At the end of the session, I will give you a copy of the counselling agreement to take away and read through in your own time. If you feel that you would like to continue working with me, you can bring the signed agreement back to our next session.
There is no obligation to continue after our first meeting. It is important that you feel comfortable with me and that you feel I am the right counsellor for you.
