About me and my therapy practice

I have a 23 year skill set.  I work with individual referrals. Also therapy and coaching for CEO's, Executive Directors, Managing Directors and Managerial staff. I am Institute of Management trained. I can provide company staff counselling, staff supervision,  EAP.  I have a staff of counsellors under my consultancy so I can offer concessionary rates.

I work collaboratively and mindfully with you to get the changes you want. Life can have a way of not working how you would like it to be, you can stay stuck and repeat old conditioned patterns in the sub-conscious, old scripts of low self worth and not being good enough. The external self along with the internal critic becomes your norm. You may not realise or recognise that you are always making the past your present. I work with unconscious motives, scripts and self limiting belief systems.

80% of my client work comes from past client referrals.

I am specialised in treating anxiety, depression, stress, OCD, trauma, PTSD, phobias, post traumatic stress disorder, childhood trauma and abuse, relationship problems, partners who are victims of personality disorder relationships, eating disorders, body distortion image, family problems and parent alienation, addictions and other area of self harm.

I see individuals, couples and families for therapy. I also work with perpetrators of domestic violence, the cycle of abuse.

I have a background in nutrition for mental/emotion health and am aware that certain mental health conditions can be nutrition related especially anxiety and depressive related issues, OCD and addictions. Although this is now recognised in some NHS settings it has not filtered through the system.

Practice description

I work under The Gateway Psychotherapy and Counselling Practice and offer an extended range of services and an extended range of fees to make counselling available for almost everyone. I do have some concession rates.

About me and my therapy practice

Coronavirus update: I am continuing working supervising therapists and taking on new therapists via telephone or online platform at this present time. A limited number of concessions are available for student counsellors.

I provide supervision and clinical consultation to psychotherapists, counsellors, student counsellors and other mental health professionals who are engaged in clinical practice whether private practice or agency work.

I have been practising as a clinical supervisor for 16 years and a psychotherapist for 23 years. I bring a wealth of experience to bring to your supervision.  I am also Institute of Management trained management consultant and can assist you with the business side of your own private practice or agency you are managing.

My approach to supervision is integrative with a core learning base of Inskip and Proctor. It involves an interactive and collaborative process with a focus on understanding the patient/therapist dyad. It is suitable for therapists wishing to develop greater self-awareness, and a deeper understanding of their relationships with their clients.

In supervision I aim to support you by:

Exploring unconscious processes and scripts in the clinical material presented. Linking theory and learning with practice. Working with the transference and counter transference in order to deepen an understanding of the client's inner world. Addressing issues of technical difficulty in the clinical work which may be hindering the therapist's efficacy. Encouraging you to develop you own ways of reflecting, thinking and processing clinical material, in order that they are able to stay in clients frame of reference and establish their own identity as a therapist over time

I also draw on my own clinical experience in private practice, supervising NHS counsellors and psychotherapists, Employee Assistance Programmes, counselling agencies.
