About me and my therapy practice

Hi , my name is Aaron. I have a Certificate in the Therapeutic and Educational Application of the Arts and a MA in Integrative Arts Psychotherapy from The Institute for Arts in Therapy and Education (IATE), awarded by London Metropolitan University

I attended the Child 20 Day Program run by IATE and the Corrective Attachment Therapy Parenting Course at The Evergreen Psychotherapy Centre in Colorado, USA.

I’ve also a trained Somatic Experiencing Practitioner (SEP) and work with the Comprehensive Resource Model (CRM). Both powerful body based 'talking therapy’s ' , capable of relieving physical, emotional and psychological shock, stress and trauma.

I have been practicing Buddhism for the past 30 years which has given a deep understanding of my self and human nature.

I work with Men & Women, young people and children. Between 2005 - 2010, I worked as the only male Psychotherapist at Whitehawk Primary School , Brighton, seeing both adults and children. I also worked with young people (ages 13- 25) at the Young Peoples Centre, in Brighton.

Prior to my therapy training, I worked in the Performing Arts profession and am well aware of the strains and stresses of working in that industry. I taught Acting for Camera at many of the top Drama Schools. (Central School of Speech & Drama, Drama Centre). I was also Lecturer in Performing Arts at Bexhill 6th form College.

I have many years of working with Young men and Men and understand the struggles they go through, especially Anger and Depression.

I am a member of A Band of Brothers, a charity established by men committed to positive social change through personal development and community building. We mentor young men who have had challenges with drugs, violence, anger and self esteem.

I adopted a young boy and also understand the challenges & joys of Adoption.

I am in regular supervision. This is an important part of my work. It means that I can maintain the highest standards of care, always working towards your well being.

Practice description

I am a practising Buddhist and Adult & Child Counsellor & Psychotherapist & Somatic Experiencer (SEP)in Hove & Brighton.

I have been seeing children, young people, adults and couples in Brighton, Hove for the past 17 years. I am committed to providing Counselling and Psychotherapy and Trauma work, in Brighton & Hove in a safe, confidential and non-judgemental environment.

I offer Counselling , Psychotherapy & Somatic Experiencing ( SEP) , and Comprehensive Resource Model ( CRM).

I provide a safe and confidential space, be able to talk and work through your thoughts and feelings in a safe and confidential setting.

We can meet face to face or online (Zoom or Skype)

Sometimes Counselling and Psychotherapy is all someone will need to get to a better, more balanced place.

But sometimes it is not enough.

I am finding more and more people are finding ‘Talk Therapy’ not enough.

So many of our behaviours and responses are rooted in our bodies responses. Often ‘talking’ is not enough to get to the root cause of our issues. Hence why I offer Somatic Experiencing® and Comprehensive Resource Model (CRM). Both of these modalities, are powerful body based therapy's, that are capable of relieving physical, emotional and psychological shock, stress and trauma. They help mobilise the body's innate self-healing systems - the same physiological processes that mend broken bones and fight disease.

Each one of us is an individual and therefore it is necessary to find the right approach that will suit you.

I therefore , if necessary, combine Counselling, Psychotherapy and/or Somatic Experiencing and/or Comprehensive Resource Model, into a holistic approach that is individual and will suit your needs.

My first session

Our first session is an opportunity for each of us to meet each other, to see if we are a good match for each other.

I know it takes courage to come to meet someone new, and I endeavour to offer a warm welcome, as well a warm therapy room!!
