About me and my therapy practice

Emotional difficulties are not always easy to put into words. Anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, emotional overwhelm or a persistent sense of unhappiness can sometimes express deeper experiences that feel difficult to think about alone.

I am a fully accredited Child and Adolescent and Adult Psychotherapist registered with the Association of Child Psychotherapists (ACP) and the BACP and am a member of the Tavistock Society of Psychotherapists.

I undertook my Doctoral Training at the Tavistock Clinic in London and have been working in private practice for 18 years. Formerly I worked in the NHS in CAMHS and offer assessments for child psychotherapy and short term and long term psychotherapy for children and young people, parents and families . I offer psychoanalytic , integrative and Metalisation based psychotherapies.

I work with adults and couples again on a short or long term basis and have a practice both in Kings Hill Kent and in Central London.

Practice description

I offer an initial consultation following a brief telephone or zoom meeting to discuss what has brought you or your child to therapy. The initial consultation will give more space to gather background and history behind the presenting issues . Please see my website drpeterslater.com for further details.

In the first session it is an opportunity to talk about what has brought you to psychotherapy and what you hope to achieve from this process. We can then discuss my formulation and recommendations as to how best to support you with the difficulties you are currently facing.

I am fully trained to offer screening and diagnostic assessments for Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD) assessments via the ADOS-2 assessment tool. This offers assessments for young children, teenagers and adults.

For more comprehensive details with regards my practice and experience please visit my website drpeterslater.com (fees indicated on my website are not in line with the fees I charge at my Kings Hill practice which as  here are £85 per appointment for individuals £120 for couples or parents or families )
