About me and my therapy practice
As a qualified, accredited & experienced psychosexual therapist & couples counsellor, I specialise in couple relationships, working with individuals & couples with relationship difficulties or sexual problems.
Sessions are weekly for 50 minutes and take place at my consulting room in London NW11.
My way of working is integrative, blending cognitive, behavioural & psychodynamic methodologies. We would focus on your feelings, think about how your experiences and relationships are affecting you now, look into aspects that outside of your awareness, e.g. what you might be repeating and defending against. We might look into what makes things better or worse for you and perhaps use behavioural techniques and exercises to help make positive shifts in your life & relationships.
I trained for many years at the Tavistock Centre for Couple Relationships (TCCR - now called 'Tavistock Relationships'), an internationally renowned centre for accredited training excellence & research in counselling & psychotherapy with couples. I also have experience working as a therapist within a sexual problems service in the NHS and at a charity helping those affected by cancer.
Often couples feel “stuck”, consumed with overwhelming feelings like jealousy & resentment; seeming as though they are on opposing teams. Couples counselling offers a neutral, safe space to explore what is beneath those emotions, helping to build mutual respect & understanding.
Psychosexual therapy maybe what is needed if you are experiencing sexual problems such as loss of desire, difficulty with orgasm, painful sex, erectile difficulties, ejaculatory difficulties, sexual avoidance or phobias & body-image issues. Psychosexual therapy offers a non-judgemental, safe space to talk about and work through sex related issues at your own pace.
Practice description
Sessions take place in Golders Green, London NW11 (near Golders Hill Park, Hampstead Heath). In exceptional circumstances, sessions may also take place online, via Zoom.
Client's sessions will be at the same time every week.
Fees are £100 per session. Sessions cost the same for couples and individuals.
My first session
Before the first session, providing I have suitable availability for you, we would arrange a 20-minute phone call (free of charge) to discuss whether I might be the right kind of therapist for you.
Then we would book in a 60-minute initial consultation, for me to find out more about what is going on for you, for you to get a flavour of how I work and to talk about how we might work together to help with your presenting issue(s). If we agree to continue working together, we would fix that session time for you every week for 50 minutes. Initial consultations are the same cost as regular sessions.
During the first session I will go through my therapeutic terms and conditions, outlining the rights and responsibilities of both client and therapist focusing on confidentiality and instances where that might be broken. These terms and conditions would also be sent to you in advance.
