About me and my therapy practice
Hello and thank you for taking the time to look at my profile. I am a qualified integrative counsellor, accredited through the BACP and am experienced in working with issues such as anxiety, depression, anger, trauma, phobias, relationship issues, self esteem, OCD and stress, both with adults and young people.
Although a qualified cognitive behavioural therapist, I also incorporate other counselling strategies including attachment theory, early life trauma, mindfulness, family systems therapy, depending on the needs of the client.
I am also an experienced adoption support worker and trainer, working with young people and families on adoption related issues and am able to work for agencies as a preferred provider in this respect. I am a skilled trainer in therapeutic parenting and non violent resistance (NVR), amongst others.
If you would like to find out more information about how I work and my experience, you are welcome to email or phone me, under no obligation.
Practice description
My rooms are situated on the first floor alongside the rooms of my Counsellor colleagues. This provides a quiet, comfortable and confidential space for you to relax and talk about the challenges that you are facing
My first session
The first session will provide you with the information to help you decide if you think the way that I work will suit you and, most importantly, whether you feel comfortable with me. It will also assure me that I am suitably qualified and experienced to be working with the issues that you are presenting. I will explain counselling confidentiality; how I work; what you can expect if you continue on with me and take some basic information from you and what is going on for you at the moment that has led you to think that counselling might help. The assessment is also an enquiring process, so information about your childhood experiences and your past relationships, as well as what you are experiencing currently will help to mutually decide a way forward for you.
