About me and my therapy practice
Online session are via Zoom which is encrypted and provides privacy and security for my clients. Or by Skype if you prefer.
The therapy I offer aims to form a supportive and yet sufficiently challenging relationship through which you can gain a deeper understanding of the difficulties you are experiencing.
During the sessions you can begin to explore and gain a greater understanding of your difficulties and develop new ways to make positive changes to enhance your life.
Together we can work to find a greater understand and make sense of your world. Each individual is unique; therefore, I offer and use differing techniques or therapies to personally suit your needs, including using Creative Art, Sand tray work for Trauma, & EMDR for Trauma.
Practice description
My Adult private practice covers clients aged 18 and over, and is non- discriminatory. Although at present I cannot offer wheelchair access.
The initial session 1/2 hr free of charge to enable you to discuss the issues you are currently experiencing. This provides you with the opportunity to decide if the level of support and therapy I offer is suitable for you.
I have worked in both public and private practice with clients presenting an extensive range of personal struggles such as anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, self-harm, bereavement, eating disorders & addictions, age related issues, terminal illness, redundancy, and general uncertainty. I also work with people suffering from Trauma.
Trauma whether it is developmental, or due to childhood abuse or more current incidental as a result of an accident or attack can have a huge impact on functioning day to day.
Getting a greater understanding of the brain, mind & body connection can help you to learn new strategies to overcome the impact of trauma on living day to day. Helping you to gain some control and understanding over the physiological symptoms that arise and enable you to give voice to the feelings associated with traumatic memories can help the healing process to begin.
I have personally experienced the effectiveness of psychotherapy having gone through difficult times, and I gained great insights into my own interpersonal relating. Having experienced first-hand some of life’s challenges, this informed my training, and my work and ultimately my professional clinical practice.
I am committed to personal development and CPD.
My first session
In the initial session and subsequently first full session, you may feel overwhelmed and possibly uneasy about attending therapy, it is my intention to ease your discomfort by explaining the process to you. I will explain how I deal with confidentiality, along with what you can expect from me.
I will need to take some notes initially, as there are certain things I need to know, in order to keep us both safe and this ensures that I work ethically and professionally. Once this is complete the time will be yours to discuss your reasons for seeking therapy. I do not usually take notes during our ongoing sessions.
