About me and my therapy practice
I’m Christine, an psychodynamically trained MBACP Accredited Counsellor. The psychodynamic model of counselling often focuses on bringing unresolved, unconscious conflicts and early childhood patterns into conscious awareness to help clients understand and alter their deep-rooted emotional and behavioral issues.
I also have with a particular interest in supporting people through grief, bereavement and loss.
I also provide clinical supervision for counsellors and psychotherapists in private practice, as well as mentoring for therapists who are considering establishing their own practice.
Practice description
Hello, I’m Christine, an MBACP (Accred) Counsellor and Psychotherapist with more than 30 years’ experience supporting adults through challenging times.
I offer a warm and confidential space where you can talk openly without judgement. My aim is to help you feel heard and supported, always working at a pace that feels comfortable for you.
You may be experiencing a range of issues. Whatever brings you to counselling, you do not have to face it alone.
Together, we will explore what is happening in your life and begin to make sense of your thoughts, emotions and experiences. Where helpful, we may gently consider how past events, childhood experiences or significant relationships continue to influence how you feel and relate to others today.
I have a particular interest in supporting people experiencing grief, bereavement and loss. Whether your loss is recent or happened many years ago, I offer a caring and supportive environment in which you can process your feelings, find greater understanding and begin to look towards the future with renewed hope.
Choosing a therapist is a personal decision, and it is important that you feel comfortable with the person you work with. The initial assessment is a two-way process. It gives us the opportunity to talk about your current concerns, consider what may be contributing to your difficulties and discuss how counselling might help. It also gives you time to ask questions and decide whether my approach feels right for you.
Your comfort and wellbeing are important, and I want you to feel confident, respected and understood before deciding whether we should continue working together.
Taking the first step towards counselling can feel daunting, but you do not need to have everything worked out before reaching out. If you are wondering whether counselling may be right for you, I would be happy to answer your questions and discuss how we might work together.
I look forward to hearing from you.
My first session
During the initial assessment, we will gently explore your current concerns and, where relevant, how past experiences may be affecting you today.
This session is also an opportunity for us to get to know each other and decide whether my approach feels right for you. You will have time to ask questions, share your concerns and consider whether you would like to continue working together.
There is no pressure to decide straight away. Your comfort, wellbeing and individual needs are central to the process.
