About me and my therapy practice

Lets find a way...

I offer a safe and compassionate space in which to reflect on what is troubling you. As you talk and reflect, I support your process of thinking and feeling your way along. Sometimes, the most important thing is just to tell your story, or at other times to think strategically in order to tackle a particular problem - very often, it's a bit of both!

I have been working as a counsellor since 2016. My  initial training was psychodynamic at post-graduate level, along with person-centred bereavement support work. After my training at Goldsmiths, I remained with Cruse Bereavement Care for eleven years as a bereavement supporter, supervisor and trainer. Before I became a counsellor, I worked for many years as a college lecturer in further education. Currently I am in the final year of training as a Cognitive Analytic Practitioner at the Maudsley. All these core trainings inform my work, although I will integrate other influences gained along the way from further training such as Mindfulness, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Hypnotherapy, Internal Family Systems Therapy.

I worked for nine years as a Samaritan volunteer and hold a Mental Health First Aid Certificate.

My other line of work is as a Life Celebrant, producing and delivering funeral services.

Practice description

I work in a community centre in Blackheath, south-east London near to Charlton and Greenwich; and I am also available to  'meet' remotely either by phone call or a video call.

I am happy to work in a flexible way  where that is logistically possible. However please be aware that I will charge for less than 24 hours notice of a changed slot or cancellation.

I currently charge £70 per session, and I offer reduced fees for those on low incomes.  A preliminary conversation (phone or video, for 15 minutes) is free of charge.

My first session

A first session is all about hearing your story and also to be clear whether or not you have come to the right place. It's also important to talk about the practicalities such as times of meetings, fees, T&Cs.

I will ask questions about your lifestyle and usually we make an initial plan about how to work together and how long for, and any immediate steps to take to help you now.

A first session is the same length and fee as those following.

If you would prefer a short chat first, then do phone me.
