About me and my therapy practice
Hello, thank you for taking time to read my profile, in doing so you've already taken a step towards finding support and help.
I have experience of working in both the private and voluntary sector and work with the following presenting concerns, anxiety, panic attacks, stress, depression, grief and loss, relationship difficulties, shame, guilt, low self-esteem, low confidence, post-traumatic stress and childhood abuse.
My training is in the person-centred approach, which puts the client at the centre of the work we do together. The key aspects of the approach are valuing and being genuine, with the counsellor striving to understand your world, your feelings and your experiencing.
In life there are times when we find it hard to cope with the difficulties and worries that come along. We need someone to listen to us who is outside of our family and friendship groups.
Being heard is a special experience, by exploring and understanding your needs together we can work through the difficulties, helping you make sense of your feelings and how you relate to the world around you.
The counselling process is a special journey where you find support to make the changes towards a happier and more fulfilling life.
I offer a confidential, welcoming and relaxing space where you can be yourself, one where we work together to explore what is best for you.
I work with adults, and young people from 16 years, face to face, and online both short term (6-8 weeks) and longer term/open ended.
My first session
First contact following your enquiry is via a phone conversation this usually takes around 20 minutes, this chat offers a prospective client the opportunity to ask questions and for me to tell you about how and where I work. All subsequent sessions are 50 minutes. The first session is where we discuss your concerns in more detail, and arrange your therapy going forward. It's good to get to know what you require, by having a chat and finding out what is best for you.
