About me and my therapy practice

Hi, I'm a BACP Accredited Counsellor and COSRT Registered Relationship Therapist with a First Class Degree in Psychology and over eleven years' experience providing counselling and CBT. I have a special interest in anxiety disorders. I offer couples therapy, individual therapy, supervision for counsellors and employee counselling for organisations.  


I am highly experienced in providing therapy for many issues including anxiety, over thinking, stress, low mood, low self-esteem and work related issues. 

What I provide:

  • A safe and confidential space to talk openly about whatever is on your mind without judgement
  • Emotional support during difficult life events such as bereavement, illness or relationship endings
  • Help to try to understand your thoughts, feelings and behaviours better
  • A focus on making changes to how you react to things
  • A problem-solving approach aiming to help you to come to solutions and make your own decisions
  • Evidence based methods (CBT and mindfulness) that you can use to work on anxiety, stress, low mood and confidence
  • Regular progress reviews to check if our sessions are meeting your needs

I will do everything possible to help you to feel comfortable. My practice is based on respect, empathy and integrity and my clients often say that they find me very easy to talk to. 

My practice is inclusive. I work with people who are neurodiverse, and I work with people of all genders, sexual identities and religious beliefs. I believe everybody is different and what works for one person does not necessarily work for another so I tailor my approach to you.

Practice description

I have a special interest in anxiety related issues and anxiety disorders, such as social anxiety, generalised anxiety disorder, panic disorder and health anxiety. Learning how to use cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) coping techniques and mindfulness skills has benefitted many of my clients over the years.

I also have a special interest in relationship issues. I have been helping individuals with relationship issues since 2014. My clients made changes that really improved their relationships so I decided to provide couples therapy. I am a qualified Relationship Therapist and a Registered Member of the professional body for relationship therapists (COSRT). This means that therapy adheres to ethical guidelines. Please see my website for information. 

Another specialist area is supporting people with work related issues, such as work related stress, burnout, confidence and issues in working relationships. I provide employee counselling services for organisations. Since 2015 part of that involves being the counsellor for OH3, an Occupational Health Company. I provide therapy for people who are struggling with the pressures of work and home life.

My training began in 2005 when I was I was trained by Samaritans to work on their telephone helpline. Before setting up my private practice in 2014, I provided counselling in a variety of settings - Lifeline, a national drug and alcohol service, Escape Intervention Services in South Shields, and at Heaton Manor School in Newcastle. 

I have been awarded Accredited Membership of BACP. This means that I have been assessed by BACP as achieving high standards of knowledge, experience and development. 

I am a qualified Clinical Supervisor and I provide supervision for other counsellors.

I attend regular training to ensure that my skills and knowledge remain up to date.

I offer appointments at OH3 in Newcastle and The Clervaux Exchange in Jarrow
