About me and my therapy practice
Hello, I'm Howard and as David Bowie sang, 'As long as there's me, As long as there's you,' we're good. I invite you to a regular, held space each week where you can bring yourself as you are, wherever you are at, with whatever you are feeling and are faced with in your life at this present time.
I'm an experienced and accredited mindfulness-based gestalt therapist providing counselling (The Gestalt Centre, 2014) and contemplative supervision (The Karuna Institute, 2022) primarily outdoors in parks, woodlands and open spaces throughout London. My passion as a therapist is to work outdoors in the many restorative, tree-filled, natural spaces that London offers.
Locally, I offer outdoor therapy sessions in Dulwich and Sydenham Woods (SE26), Peckham Rye Park (SE22), Dulwich Park (SE21), Brockwell Park (SE24), Burgess Park (SE5), Crystal Palace Park (SE25), Greenwich Park (SE10), Battersea Park (SW11) and other parks and open spaces.
I enjoy working long term with clients and accordingly charge a rate of £60 per session to enable this. Sessions typically last for a full hour.
Practice description
Recognised by the World Economic Forum, spending time in natural surroundings, most specifically, as observed in the Japanese practice of forest bathing, around trees, can bring about improved levels of health and well-being.
I have worked outdoors with clients suffering from anxiety, depression, trauma, exclusion, burnout, low self-esteem, feeling overwhelmed, panic and unrelenting stress, and I have witnessed numerous positive outcomes.
Being in nature, we are invited to touch in and welcome all that is and to allow ourselves to be affected by what is. Held in the natural cycles of day and night and the shifting seasons, we are able to let go with a knowing that things are as they need to be. We are the forest.
I have come to trust the many therapeutic benefits that are available to us working outdoors in natural surroundings. It beats the magnolia painted walls and clients express their appreciation in having an alternative to sitting face-to-face in a therapy room.
I welcome the opportunity to work side-by-side with people from a wide range of economic and cultural backgrounds, gender and sexual diversity.
My first session
I recommend having an initial introductory session where we can discuss how we might work together. You can then decide if you would like to continue but with no obligation to do so. Please click on the link to my website for further details of my approach and bio.

About me and my therapy practice
Hello, I'm Howard. I offer supervision sessions with trainees and qualified practitioners in parks and outdoor spaces across an array of parks, woodlands and open spaces throughout London including the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park (E20), Wanstead Park (E12) Victoria Park (E9), and London Fields (E8), I offer an warm, creative and supportive approach that supports your client-work with awareness and affirmation. My aim is to support you in your work with your clients, and to support your own development. I offer a reflective space where together, we can jointly explore whatever is figural and important for you as a practitioner.
My passion as a supervisor is to work outdoors in the many restorative, tree-filled, natural spaces that London offers. I have a diploma in contemplative supervision from the Karuna Institute (2022) located within the wilderness of the Dartmoor National Park.
Sessions are offered outdoors and online. I welcome the opportunity to work side-by-side with people from a wide range of economic and cultural backgrounds, gender and sexual diversity. I charge a flat rate of £70 for a hour session of 60 minutes duration, £100 for a 90 minute session and £120 for a 2 hour session.
Practice description
The contemplative model is based on bringing attentive awareness to three categories of client observation:
Body - noting what is figural for the therapist of the client's physical appearance
Speech - bringing awareness to different aspects to how the client communicates
Mind - observing the client's sense of self and the sense of connection between their inner and outer world
All of the senses are brought to the fore to describe the impact the client has made in the therapist's working relationship with the client which can achieve a means of shifting and resolving that which has appeared stuck and blocked.
It is an experiential way of working and one that is analogous with my training in gestalt therapy and working outdoors in natural surroundings. As a supervisor, I find it provides an effective means to reflect upon the various processes therapists experience with their clients. There is an intelligent spontaneity at play and a state of psychological ease, as effortless as walking.
