I try to be flexible in the session times I can offer. I only have a limited number of face to face appointments (in the beautiful cathedral city of Salisbury) but can offer video and telephone appointments at other times.
No weekend appointments.
About me and my therapy practice
Hi, I’m Jo and what I offer is a little different from many therapists. Whilst I have extensive experience in the many issues brought to counselling my specialism and passion is helping people to explore their relationship with food and disordered eating.
I bring compassion and understanding to FOOD BASED ISSUES. Relationships with food can have a huge impact on our lives. It may be that an issue such as yo-yo dieting, over eating, under eating, binge eating, or a poor relationship with food dominates your life or it may be that at times of stress you notice your eating patterns and ability to look after yourself suffers.
Food may not be part of your presenting worries, and that is fine, I have extensive experience and can help with many other issues but if you know food is part of your “story” I have an specialised training (graduating from the US based Institute for the Psychology of Eating). This training sits perfectly alongside my counselling qualifications and experience helping to investigate the connection between food, body and emotions. In addition to conventional counselling I will share some knowledge about the science of food and the body gained from my specialist training to help provide practical solutions.
I can provide support to those receiving help with eating disorders (and parents of children facing these challenges) and have also successfully worked with many weight loss clients (including those on their Ozempic/ GLP-1 journey). Most of us have understanding of what we ideally should and shouldn’t eat and yet we don’t act effectively on it, the missing piece is the emotional aspect. This is where my specialist training comes in.

Our first session is about getting to know each other, making you feel comfortable, safe and establishing that we are a good fit. It is a chance for you to tell your “story” at your own pace, without fear of judgement.
If you are coming to me with a food based concern I will often ask for you to complete an intake form before our first session, but if you are not comfortable with this it isn't a deal breaker!
