About me and my therapy practice

Hello and a massive "Welcome". I am Lisa. I qualified as an Integrative therapist in 2006.  I live in the Nottinghamshire countryside. I love being surrounded by nature, as well as being with my dogs and chickens. Photography is one of my favourite hobbies. I am a very down to earth woman, who loves to connect with people and animals. I also like travelling around in my old motorhome.

Counselling has been a big part of my life for over 20 years now. Not only as a therapist, but also as a client. I understand how difficult it is reaching out for support.

Over the past eight years, I have successfully ran a support group dedicated to women navigating or preparing for surgical menopause. Since experiencing surgical menopause myself in 2017, I have gained firsthand insight into its challenges. Now, this group has grown into a lively community offering guidance and peer support. More than 5,000 women regularly turn to the support group for advice, sharing their personal journeys along the way.

I have many years of experience and training in menopause and women's health issues.

In October 2025, I launched a podcast called Tough, Love and Surgical Menopause. This podcast highlights the real-life experiences of women navigating surgical menopause. Through engaging guest speakers and informative discussions, the podcast not only raises awareness about women's health and surgical menopause, but also serves as a valuable educational resource, providing practical guidance and advice to women. I am also the co-founder of the Surgical Menopause Awareness Day.

My passion is to support women of all ages, so they can thrive and live happy, healthy lives.

Practice description

I made the decision in January 2026 to specialise in women's therapy only.

Since becoming an Integrative therapist in 2006, I have maintained a strong dedication to helping, supporting, and uplifting women as they navigate life's challenges. My reputation is built on a warm, compassionate, and non-judgmental style, ensuring clients always feel safe and understood. With experience across multiple settings and industries, I offer a broad perspective in my therapeutic practice, especially for women's health support.

Why do women turn to counselling?

Counselling provides a safe, confidential and therapeutic space that focuses purely on your specific needs. It allows you to share at your own pace without judgement. Engaging in counselling can foster greater self-awareness and a sense of calm.

Counselling is particularly helpful for women navigating a natural menopause and surgical menopause. Women of all ages turn to counselling for a variety of reasons, including anxiety, depression, bereavement, or dealing with trauma.

Counselling can also help you learn new coping strategies, it can increase your self awareness, it can help you improve your communication skills and set healthier boundaries.

My first session

Getting Acquainted

The initial session will be dedicated to becoming acquainted with each other. This is an opportunity for us to establish a comfortable environment and begin building rapport. I will answer any questions you may have, ensuring that you feel supported from the outset.

Exploring Your Reasons for Attending

During this session, I will conduct a brief assessment to gain insight into the factors that led you to seek counselling. This will help me understand your situation. I might take some notes on the first session.

Client-Counsellor Contract

I will also address any questions you might have regarding the client-counsellor contract, which was sent to you the week prior to our session. This will ensure clarity around our working agreement and provide an opportunity to discuss any points of concern.
