About me and my therapy practice
Hi, I'm Jo, I offer integrative counselling and psychotherapy tailored to meet your needs. In-person sessions are offered in Morpeth and in Gosforth. Online/Phone therapy is available to anyone resident in the UK with a convenient online booking system.
Finding the right person to talk to is the most important part of that journey. I offer a free 15-minute consultation via Microsoft Teams or telephone. This is a chance for us to meet, discuss what you are looking for, and help you decide if I am the right therapist for you before committing to a full session.
How I can support You
I provide a safe, confidential space to explore a wide range of emotional and psychological challenges. I have extensive experience supporting individuals through:
Emotional Wellbeing & Mental Health
- Helping you navigate the weight of Anxiety and Depression, and working to rebuild your sense of Low Self-Esteem.
Healing from Relational History
- Supporting those who have experienced Historic Abuse or Neglect, whether in childhood or within adult relationships. I also work with those experiencing current Conflict in Relationships or Family Conflict. (Please note: I work with individuals only; I do not offer couples therapy).
Navigating Change & Stress
- Providing tools to manage Workplace Stress and Career Burnout, as well as supporting you through the painful process of Divorce, Relationship Breakups, or significant Life Transitions.
My Approach
I practice as an Integrative Therapist. This means I don't believe in a "one size fits all" approach. Instead, I adapt my methods to meet your specific goals, blending the empathy of Person-Centred Therapy with the practical insights of Transactional Analysis (TA) and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT).
Qualifications
- Foundation Degree in Counselling
- Diploma In Counselling Supervision

About me and my therapy practice
I qualified as a counselling supervisor with a Diploma in Supervision in 2019, and have experience of supervising qualified and trainee counsellors.
I use the Seven-eyed Model of Supervision (Hawkins and Shohet), enabling an all-encompassing exploration of client sessions and the processes that occur in counselling and supervision. As counsellors I believe we are all continually learning and developing, and I understand the importance of feeling safe and respected in supervision sessions. I believe a supervisor should support a supervisee to develop their own way of working with clients and their issues.
I work in accordance with BACP ethics and guidelines.
I bring knowledge and experience from working as a counsellor since I qualified in 2010. I have provided counselling in a variety of settings including the NHS, mental health charities and employee assistance programmes (EAP). I have facilitated mental health support groups and courses in mental health charities, managed a counselling service and a team of counsellors.
I’m a registered and accredited member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). I work as an integrative counsellor, adapting my approach to meet the individual needs of each client. The foundation of my approach is Person Centred Therapy; I also draw from Transactional Analysis (TA) and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT).
