About me and my therapy practice

Hello, I’m Inge. Looking for a therapist can feel daunting, especially at a time when you are already dealing with difficult circumstances. I’m a person-centred therapist and EMDR Europe Accredited Practitioner.  I provide a safe, caring and non-judgemental space to think and talk.

I've helped clients reduce anxiety and anger, combat stress & depression, overcome trauma, clarify indecision, increase self-esteem & self-confidence and find a sense of purpose. I will work hard to understand your life from your point of view. I will listen to and accept your feelings, working at your pace and not pressuring you. 

Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR) is beneficial for people coping with trauma, anxiety and phobias. EMDR utilises the natural eye movements usually experienced during sleep and helps the brain properly process the event and develop coping mechanisms.  EMDR enables a traumatic memory to be stored in the past where it belongs.

I have worked in the NHS, with MIND (the mental health charity) and at a local Further Education College, as well as in private practice. I therefore have experience working with varying individual needs, wide ranging age groups (18+ years) and differing social and cultural backgrounds.

My first session

Sessions last 50 minutes and the first session does not commit you to further appointments. It is a chance for you to meet me and find out what I can offer you. We will discuss the issues that are troubling you and consider what you hope to achieve from counselling. If we feel comfortable working together, we will arrange how often we will meet. I am happy to work with you on either a short or long-term basis. I will be guided by you.

Each session is always your time and your space, which means you choose what to talk about. My role is to help you focus on your changing experiences and we may discuss thoughts, feelings, behaviours and situations relating to the past, present or future. 

My aim is to help you change your life for the better and we'll work together to find the right solutions for you.
