About me and my therapy practice

Life can feel overwhelming at times, and navigating its ups and downs isn’t always easy. You might be struggling with your mental health, facing challenges from the past or present, or just sensing that something feels "off" but not knowing why. Hi, I’m Rachel. With over 18 years experience as a counsellor and 15 years working in mental health, I truly understand both the challenges and the transformative power of therapy—because I’ve been on both sides, as a client and a therapist. You don’t have to figure things out alone. If you're ready to take that first step, let’s do it together.

I’m a Person-Centred therapist, so our sessions are really about you—your story, your pace, and what feels right in the moment. I love working with people from all backgrounds, and I have a soft spot for supporting women, of all ages, whether that’s through menopause, living without children, or just finding your feet in life.

I know that reaching out can feel daunting, and taking that first step is often the hardest part. But you’ve already made it this far, and that’s a big deal. If you’re wondering whether therapy might help, I’d love to invite you to get in touch. I offer a free 15-minute consultation—just a relaxed chat to see if we’re the right fit and how I can support you.

Practice description

I offer one-on-one counselling for adults 18 and over, tailored to whatever’s on your mind. Whether you're facing a specific challenge or just need a space to talk things through, our sessions will be shaped around what works best for you. It’s a safe, supportive space where you can be yourself, explore what’s going on, and work towards the changes you want.

Face to face - Sessions are held in a safe and comfortable therapy room which will help you to feel more at ease and open to sharing thoughts and feelings.

Walk & Talk - These sessions are held in Southend and the surrounding areas. This approach involves you and I taking a walk on a carefully selected and safe route instead of sitting in the traditional therapy room. You may have tried face to face therapy and found it didn't work for you? It's not uncommon to struggle with finding the right words to say in therapy, and walking side by side without the pressure of making eye contact can be helpful for some individuals.

Online/video calls - These remote sessions offer convenience, flexibility and accessibility for all, and it offers the same level of support and confidentiality as traditional, in the therapy room, sessions. It allows you to access support from the comfort of your own home or wherever you may be.

My first session

Our first contact will be a free 15 minute phone call, where we can discuss what your needs and goals for counselling are, and what I can offer.

If we both agree that we would like to work together, we can establish when and where our first session will be. Each session thereafter will cost £55 and is 50 minutes.

During that first session we will complete an assessment, and continue onto further sessions if agreed by both.

About me and my therapy practice

Feeling stuck, anxious, or not quite yourself — but unsure whether therapy is for you? Many people come to therapy feeling exactly this way, often after trying to manage on their own for a long time. You don’t need to have everything figured out before starting therapy; you only need the willingness to take the first step, and you’ve already done that by reading this.

I’m a Person-Centred therapist, offering a calm, supportive space where you can talk freely and at your own pace. Our sessions are guided by you — your story, your experiences, and what feels right in the moment. I work with adults from all backgrounds and have experience supporting women of all ages, including those navigating menopause, childlessness, life transitions, or periods of change and uncertainty.

I understand how unsettling it can feel to be out of balance or unsure how to cope. Therapy isn’t about being “fixed” or told what to do — it’s about being heard, understood, and supported as you explore your experiences and find your own solutions. I also use therapy myself, so I know the value of having a trusted space to reflect, gain clarity, and work through things with someone who listens. This understanding shapes the way I work: collaboratively, compassionately, and grounded in real life.

I offer a free 15-minute consultation — a relaxed, no-pressure chat — so we can talk about what’s brought you to therapy, how I work, and whether we might be the right fit. Starting therapy can feel daunting, but this first conversation is simply a chance to explore whether it feels right for you.

Therapy can help you feel steadier, clearer, and more able to cope with life’s challenges. If this resonates with you, I’d love to hear from you and begin that first step together.
