About me and my therapy practice

When anxiety, difficult relationships or painful experiences begin to take over, it can be hard to see a way forward. Counselling can help you find one.

I’m Debbie, a BACP Accredited counsellor offering counselling for adults, children and young people in Stevenage, Hertfordshire, and online.

I help people understand their difficulties, develop ways to cope and work towards changes that matter to them.

Whether you’re seeking support for yourself or your child, we can begin with what feels hardest and work together towards greater confidence, understanding and emotional wellbeing.

Practice description

Counselling for adults: understanding yourself and moving forward

Worry, low mood or self-doubt can make life exhausting. Relationships can become painful or confusing, while the past can affect your confidence, choices and sense of safety.

I offer support with anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, relationship difficulties, bereavement, abuse and trauma. Our work offers space to understand your experiences and take practical steps towards change.

Together, we can focus on:

* Understanding anxiety and developing strategies to manage it.

* Building confidence and a kinder relationship with yourself.

* Recognising relationship patterns and strengthening boundaries.

* Working through painful experiences at a manageable pace.

* Finding direction when you feel stuck or disconnected.

I work integratively, drawing on approaches to meet your needs. We’ll combine deeper understanding with practical support, addressing present challenges and underlying patterns.

Whatever has brought you here, there is room to build a life that feels more manageable, connected and fulfilling.

Counselling for children and teenagers: building confidence and ways to cope

Watching your child struggle can leave you worried and unsure how to help. Anxiety, friendship difficulties, school pressures or changes at home can affect their confidence, behaviour and enjoyment of life.

I help children and young people understand their feelings, express what troubles them and develop ways to manage difficult situations.

Trust is the starting point. I take time to build a relationship where your child feels heard and respected. Through conversation or play, we explore their experiences in a way that suits their age and interests.

I support autistic young people and those with ADHD. My approach respects their strengths and needs, helping them understand themselves and manage overwhelm.

Where appropriate, I work alongside parents, schools and other professionals so support extends into everyday life.
