About me and my therapy practice

"Therapy was literally life-changing and what I learned remains with me today." – A satisfied client.

I'm a Psychodynamic Counsellor based in Walthamstow Village with over 10 years’ experience in the NHS, community and private health care settings.

I offer a friendly and professional service to those who may not have experienced counselling before (or those who have been previously disappointed).

I provide effective treatment for anxiety and depression, as well as emotionally unstable and bipolar disorders. If you're not sure what you're suffering with, I can assist with symptoms such as low mood, low self-esteem, fear and/or avoidance of social situations, so-called 'imposter syndrome', work-based stress and/or relationship difficulties.

I'm comfortable dealing with strong emotions, such as anger or frustration, guilt or shame, hopelessness and/or despair, up to and including fleeting thoughts and feelings of self-harm or suicide. If you are actively self-harming or suicidal, I can advise on appropriate treatment pathways.

With more than 12 years of experience in counselling and psychotherapy, including almost 5 years in the NHS, you can be confident in my ability to deliver a high quality service. I've trained with and worked alongside some of the best names in the field, published papers and presented my work to other mental health professionals.

I believe in treating all people with dignity and respect and am particularly interested in working with people from a wide variety of social and economic backgrounds, including marginalised communities. I am strongly motivated to assist those on the front line of the struggle for social and environmental justice.

Testimonials:

"From our very first interaction, I felt heard and understood."

"Rob created a safe, nonjudgmental space where I could be open about my thoughts and feelings."

"I feel better equipped to handle life's challenges."

"I don’t think I could ever really articulate the level of gratitude."

Practice description

For the past 10 years, I've run a successful practice here in Walthamstow and am currently accepting new referrals after recently relocating to the Village. I'm a short (5 minutes) walk from the shops and restaurants of Orford Road and about the same distance from Hollow Ponds, where I offer nature based therapy as a low cost alternative to my standard practice. (If you'd like to find out more about this service, please visit my website).

I'm a professional member of the British Psychoanalytic Council (BPC), a Professional Standards Authority accredited register. I am also a member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and the Climate Psychology Alliance (CPS). For your peace of mind, I hold public liability insurance of up to £10,000,000.

Prices can be negotiated but if you can afford to pay, please do so I can continue to offer reduced rates to those on limited means.

If you'd like to find out more about how I could potentially help you, why not send me a message today?
