About me and my therapy practice
Counselling and coaching for midlife and other transitions
Are you feeling lost in a sea of change?
Has midlife brought about unexpected issues that seem too difficult to resolve?
Have you experienced changes in your health, relationships or sense of purpose and need space to process this?
Would you like to pause and listen to a deeper calling from your soul so you can live more intentionally?
Hi, I'm Shirley Anstis, counsellor, coach and author. As your BACP registered counsellor I bring 19 years of experience of supporting clients to get to know themselves better, heal from the past, be fully active in their present life and move towards the life they envision.
I provide a safe, warm and attentive space where you can be seen and heard. Whether you are experiencing overwhelm, disconnection, low mood or frustration - with attention, reflection and space, we can find a way through.
My clients become more self aware, more connected to the people they care about, have more self-compassion and a renewed confidence in their own ability.
Practice description
Midlife can bring surprising lessons and insights. I am on a similar journey; juggling different roles and responsibilities.
Perhaps you've been facing life's challenges on your own, pushing through and achieving some success.
But you're in a different stage of life and you'd like to do things differently so that your next chapter feels less stressful and more authentic.
I can support you as you navigate through to:
- heal childhood wounds
- increase self awareness and self care
- repair close relationships
- become unstuck
- work through repressed emotions
- find compassion for yourself
- find your voice
- reconnect to your joy
- let go of perfectionism
- step into your authentic power
I offer a safe, attentive and supportive space with gentle challenge. Come as you are, there is no right way to be a client.
Expect to be listened to, encouraged, challenged, see new possibilities and be transformed. My role is to help you to really know and appreciate yourself.
My approach is integrative psychosynthesis which is both soulful and grounded in reality. I support you in embracing who you truly are on the inside and the life you seek to create going forward: heart, mind, body and soul.
You will have the opportunity to experience mindfulness and journalling. I also include inner child work, visualisations and somatic tracking. We find the best approaches to support you to move through this stage of your life's journey.
My first session
I offer an initial 15-minute free introductory session so I can be clear on what you are seeking and you can be clear on what I can offer.
We get to decide if we can work together as therapy is supported by the relationship between therapist and client.
Thereafter we have 50-minute sessions, weekly or fortnightly.
