About me and my therapy practice
Hello there, welcome to Sisu counselling, I deliver counselling in Dumfries and counselling in Moffat. I am a Pluralistic counsellor with over 19 years experience in psychology, counselling and mental health. I provide expert and completely confidential help, in a safe and empathic environment. Here, you can work on whatever issues may be troubling you – from anxiety and depression, to relationship problems, trauma, low self-esteem, and more. I offer highly-focused brief counselling or long-term psychotherapy, as required. I am able to provide sessions to adults and young people. I am a trained relationship counsellor providing counselling to families, couples and individuals.
PROFFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE MCOSCA
An essential aspect of every good counsellor is having the training and knowledge of working with specific types of problems but by itself, this is not enough. Your specific life challenges have shaped and affected you differently from everyone else. You are a completely unique, intricate individual made like no one else and it is on this which we will build our therapeutic relationship to achieve your chosen goals – a relationship in which I will help you feel safe, accepted, valued, heard and unjudged. This is at the core of my practice.
Practice description
I first trained In Psychology then as a Drug and Alcohol Counsellor working with individuals, then as an Integrative Relationship Counsellor. More recently I have worked meticulously with families, young people and mental health issues such as complex trauma.
I am a registered counsellor with COSCA (Scotland’s professional body for Counselling and Psychotherapy), and also hold qualified trainer status to teach the COSCA Counselling Skills Certificate Course to others.

About me and my therapy practice
Looking for a New Supervisor? Let's Make It Easier
Finding the right supervisor can be overwhelming, especially with the variety of modalities and individual strengths listed in the supervisor register. Let me introduce you to my practice and how I can support you.
My Background
I am an integrative therapist working in a pluralistic way. I can help with your psychodynamic practice, CBT, TA, SFBT, Person centres, integrative or pluralistic practice.
Client Base
I work with children, young people, individuals, and couples. My diverse client base equips me to support your work with your own varied clientele effectively. I have a background in working with children and young people, I studied child development and psychology at university, I have a diploma in relationship counselling and couples counselling.
Areas of Expertise
I specialise in working with clients dealing with neurodiversity, low self-esteem, anxiety, shyness, and those affected by family and childhood trauma.
The Challenges of Counselling
Counselling is rewarding yet can be demanding and stressful. Therapists often struggle with overworking, over-involvement, burnout, and self-care. As your supervisor, I provide a supportive and informed perspective to help navigate these challenges.
Let's Connect
If my approach resonates with you or sparks your curiosity, please reach out for an initial conversation. Let's see how we can work together.
Looking forward to potentially working with you and supporting your journey as a counsellor.
Practice description
I run a neurodiverse-affirmative private practice, and have extensive experience working in diverse settings, including schools, EAP services, and adult counselling services, both general and specialized.Focus on New Therapists
I am particularly passionate about supporting newly qualified or returning therapists. This phase is crucial for developing self-confidence and honing unique skills. Post-pandemic, the counselling landscape has shifted, making it even more essential to explore and adapt to these changes safely. Empowered and supported therapists are better equipped to avoid low-value placements, unpaid work, and poor working practices. Our profession requires recognition and respect in the working world.
The Supervision Relationship
I value the supervision relationship, seeing it as a dynamic and reflective space. It's an opportunity for qualified or in-training counsellors to collaborate, enhancing outcomes for both you and your clients.
