I am a Doctoral Researcher at the University of Lancashire seeking participants for a qualitative research study exploring the lived experiences of EMDR-accredited practitioners working therapeutically with clients presenting with Complex Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (CPTSD).
The study has been reviewed and approved by the University of Lancashire Health Ethics Review Panel (Reference: Health 01387 FR).
About the study
The aim of this study is to explore how EMDR practitioners experience the emotional, somatic and relational aspects of working with clients presenting with CPTSD. The research will examine experiences such as somatic resonance, therapeutic presence, co-regulation, vicarious distress and post-traumatic growth, and how practitioners make sense of these experiences within their clinical practice.
Findings will contribute to a greater understanding of therapist wellbeing and may help inform EMDR training, supervision and future research.
