I am Daisy Dyer, a BSc[Hons] counselling student at the University of East London. As part of my dissertation, I am conducting research into those who Identify as a Wounded Healer and how that informs your therapeutic relationship and professional practice. Seeking to explore how counsellors personal experience of being a wounded healer may influence aspects within the therapeutic room, such as, empathy, client connection, potential vicarious trauma and the ability to engage in more complex therapeutic relationships. This contributes towards a deeper understanding of the stigma surrounding the wounded healer identity, particularly the tension between lived experience of psychological distress and professional therapeutic practice.

I am looking for participants whom are:

  • A Qualified counsellor or psychotherapist with current membership in an accredited body aged 20 years and above.
  • Those who identify as a wounded healer, and are willing to explore your lived experience of this.
  • Must be actively seeing clients or have been in active practice within the last 12 months, and are supported by Supervision.

If you fit these criteria, I would appreciate if you could spare some time to take part in my study.

You are not able to apply if:

  • You are students or unqualified trainees.
  • Practitioners whom are in current acute phase of psychological distress.
  • Practitioners whom are not in regular supervision and practice.

This involves an qualitative interview based study should take about 60 minutes to complete using UEL-Microsoft TEAMS online interviews, that are only audio recorded followed by ethical protocol to protect your confidentiality and anonymity at all times.
