Are you a clinician or therapist with experience supporting people affected by trauma or PTSD soon after a traumatic event? I am currently recruiting participants for a research study as part of my doctoral research at King’s College London.
About the research study
This study explores clinicians’ perspectives on memory-focused work in early intervention for PTSD. In particular, it looks at how clinicians decide when, whether, and how to work directly with trauma memories soon after a traumatic event. Although trauma-focused psychological therapies are recommended for PTSD, there is still more to understand about how clinicians make these decisions in the early aftermath of trauma.
By sharing your experiences, you will help improve understanding of the factors that shape clinical decision-making in this area, including what supports or gets in the way of early memory-focused work.
The study has received ethical approval from the King’s College London Research Ethics Committee.
We are looking to speak with clinicians or therapists who:
• Hold a relevant clinical qualification (e.g., counselling psychology, clinical psychology, high intensity CBT)
• Have experience working with people soon after trauma - any time from the first few hours up to 12 months post-event
What will taking part involve?
Participation involves a one-to-one semi-structured interview lasting approximately one hour. The interview will be conducted online via Microsoft Teams and will ask about your clinical experiences, views, and decision-making when working with people affected by trauma/PTSD in the early aftermath of trauma.
Participation is entirely voluntary. With your consent, the interview will be audio-recorded for analysis. All information shared will be treated confidentially and anonymised in any research outputs.
Participants will receive a £25 voucher as a thank you for taking part.
