Invitation to Participate in Research on Therapists Living with Fluctuating Chronic Illness
I am conducting a qualitative MA research study at Regent’s University London, exploring the experiences of practising psychotherapy or counselling while living with a fluctuating physical chronic illness.
Ethical approval has been granted.
My study aims to understand how such conditions shape clinical work, professional identity, uncertainty, ethical considerations and future outlook. This is an area that remains under researched within the profession, despite being highly relevant to many of us.
I am seeking UKCP/BACP registered therapists or trainees who:
• live with a fluctuating physical chronic illness
• are currently seeing clients, or have at least 1 year of previous client experience
• are willing to take part in a 60-90 minute remote interview (Microsoft Teams)
• feel comfortable reflecting on their lived experience
Participation is voluntary, confidential and fully anonymised. Participants may pause, stop or withdraw at any stage, including up to two weeks after the interview.
If you are interested in learning more or feel this study resonates with your experience, please contact me via email at S21003370@regents.ac.uk.
