We are inviting qualified therapists to take part in a research study exploring therapists’ experiences of working with clients who present with depersonalization symptoms.

Depersonalization is when someone feels disconnected from themselves, their body, or their emotions, as if they are watching life from the outside.

This study aims to understand the challenges therapists encounter, the strategies they use, and the personal and professional impact of this work.

To be eligible, participants must:

  • Hold a postgraduate qualification in counselling psychology, clinical psychology, psychotherapy, or a related field.
  • Have at least two years of post-qualification clinical experience.
  • Have direct experience working with clients presenting depersonalization symptoms (formal diagnosis not required).

Therapists working exclusively in specialist dissociation services will be excluded, as the study focuses on everyday therapeutic encounters.

Participation involves a 60 minute online interview, which will be audio-recorded, transcribed, and anonymised. All information will remain confidential, and participants may withdraw during and up to two weeks after the interview.

Please see here for more information.
