I am a Master’s student in Counselling and Psychotherapy at London Metropolitan University, conducting research for my dissertation exploring the lived experiences of Romanian counselling trainees undertaking counselling or psychotherapy training in the UK.
The study aims to explore participants’ experiences of developing as counsellors while training in English and navigating their Romanian and UK contexts. I am particularly interested in hearing participants’ own perspectives and experiences of their training and professional development.
I am looking for participants who:
- identify as Romanian
- are aged 18 or over
- are currently undertaking a counselling or psychotherapy training programme in the UK, or have completed their training within the past three years
- are comfortable participating in an interview conducted in English.
What does participation involve
Participation will involve a 60–90 minute individual online interview via Microsoft Teams. The interview will provide an opportunity to talk about your experiences of counselling/psychotherapy training in the UK. With your consent, the interview will be audio-recorded for transcription and analysis. All data will be treated confidentially and anonymised in the research. Participation is entirely voluntary, and you can decide whether or not you wish to take part after receiving further information about the study.
If you meet the criteria and would like to participate, or would simply like more information before deciding, please contact me at pab0666@my.londonmet.ac.uk
