We’re delighted to have been shortlisted for two membership excellence awards.

We’re nominated in the Best Virtual/Hybrid Event category at the Memcom Excellence Awards 2023 for our Private Practice Conference in September.

Titled Beyond the room – finding your inner entrepreneur, the Private Practice Conference was held at Etc Venues St Pauls in London and online.

Private Practice Conference

The conference brought together leading experts who shared their experience and knowledge of promoting private practice.

It also gave members a chance to explore ideas to develop their practice.

Rebecca Gibson, our Member Resources Manager, said: “We’re immensely proud to be shortlisted for this award and are really looking forward to the ceremony in September.

“It represents the culmination of hard work and collaboration across the team, stakeholders and suppliers to re-launch our Private Practice Conference as a hybrid event after the pandemic.

“The event was also a chance for our team to really re-engage with members so they feel fully supported, and to increase our visibility with new event staff uniform, badges, signage and statement of respect and wellbeing.”

Counselling Changes Lives

We’re also nominated in the Best Public Awareness Campaign for our Counselling Changes Lives PR and media campaign.

The campaign aims to build public awareness of BACP, promote the role of counselling and psychotherapy and direct the public to our members for support.

We’ve worked with the media agency 23Red on a series of projects including our Therapy Talks video, which aimed to demystify therapy and answer common questions about seeing a therapist, our Mindometer survey into the state of the nation’s mental health, and most recently our Anxiety Is… campaign for Mental Health Awareness Week.

It’s all part of our work to ensure members of the public are aware of counselling, how it can help them and how to access a registered BACP therapist.

Adam Pollard, our Head of Marketing and Engagement, said: “It’s fantastic to see our Counselling Changes Lives media/PR campaign shortlisted for such a prestigious award.

“We’re incredibly proud of everything that we’ve achieved as a team, and this news is testament to all the hard work that’s gone into delivering the campaign.

Raising awareness

“In the last 12 months BACP has secured more media coverage than ever before; including across the BBC, ITV, Sky News, every major newspaper and many other outlets besides.

“All in support of our objective of raising awareness of therapy, the work of our members and ultimately, signposting those in need to qualified support.

“I’m excited about continuing to support our members by increasing our reach in this way.”

The winners will be announced on 26 September.
