We’re launching an independent investigation into recent negative comments made about BACP in a series of anonymous social media posts.

We’ve engaged an independent company to thoroughly investigate the comments in these anonymous social media posts. This is an opportunity for us to fully understand these statements and whether there is any validity in them, and to ensure we take appropriate action to address any underlying issues.

We take comments of this nature extremely seriously. As a membership body for a profession with ethics and trust at its heart, we must hold ourselves to the highest standards of professionalism and behaviour.

We’re also aware of an open letter sent to the Trustees and Senior Staff of BACP and circulated on social media. The letter from a number of high-profile people in the profession has highlighted a series of points about BACP.

While the open letter is not included within the scope of our investigation, we know that some of the points raised in the letter overlap with the anonymous comments on social media. We’re currently considering how best to respond to this letter, and importantly, how we enable a productive conversation with its signatories.

We expect to have a report on the company’s findings by the end of the year.

This report will be reviewed and discussed internally and an action plan will be created to address any findings.

We’ll share information from this action plan with staff and members in the coming months.

In the meantime, we remain committed to our responsibilities in supporting our staff, our members and to the effective running of the association.
