About me and my therapy practice

I work from two locations in Cambridge; Madingley Road which is  quite central and Papworth Everard, a quiet village that lies between Cambridge and Huntingdon. My practice hours are flexible and when available, I can offer evening and very limited weekend sessions. I offer discounts to university students and to couples on a sliding scale depending on their joint income.

I have an MPhil in Psychology and Education from University of Cambridge and I am a graduate member of British Psychological Society (BPS). I also have a Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling and training in Relationship Counselling with Relate. My initial counselling training included Person-Centred, Psychodynamic and CBT models. In addition, I was introduced to the Systemic Therapy during my relationship counselling training.

In my practice, I work integratively, borrowing 'tools' from different approaches if and when needed. This means, I base my intervention on the particular issue brought to therapy by the client as well as what approach I think the client would best respond to.  I am however grounded on the Psychodynamic model and I rely heavily on the Person-Centrered approach when establishing and maintaining a relationship with my clients, putting a lot of emphasis on being warm, caring, friendly, accepting and non-judgemental. I believe the most healing aspect of counselling is the relationship between the counsellor and the client and so I am always informed by the relational aspect of therapy.

I offer an assessment session to prospective clients at a flat rate of £30 so that we can both get to know one another before committing ourselves to the counselling relationship. I offer discounts to clients who would like to pre-pay for a block of six sessions. I am bilingual and also practice in Turkish. Finally, I am fully insured and take regular supervision to inform my practice.
