About me and my therapy practice

I am a Cambridge based counsellor with over 10 years of experience which equates to thousands of therapy hours. My main areas of interest are relationships and trauma (isolated events as well as prolonged and recurrent trauma).

I have helped many individuals and couples with unhelpful patterns that have stopped them from establishing and maintaining healthy relationships with their family, friends and romantic partners. In my work with couples, I am quite directive and often give “homework” to my clients. I provide psychoeducation as part of our work together and draw heavily on adult attachment styles research as well as using various tools and strategies in order to resolve relationship issues.

When working with trauma, including PTSD and childhood developmental trauma, I use EMDR therapy which is an evidence-based, gold standard modality in this area. EMDR can also be used to help clients to work through difficult or disturbing experiences or self-limiting beliefs.

I have also successfully worked with clients who suffer from low self-worth, perfectionism, self-sabotaging behaviour, procrastination, depression, anxiety, imposter syndrome, work stress and a general feeling of being stuck. My goal is to help you transform your life in a positive and meaningful way.

I have an MPhil in Psychology and Education from University of Cambridge. I also have a Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling and Diploma in Relationship Counselling from Relate. My counselling training included Person-Centred, Psychodynamic, CBT and Systemic approaches. In my practice, I work eclectically, borrowing 'tools' from different approaches. This means, I base my intervention on the particular issue brought to therapy by the client as well as what approach I think the client would best respond to. I am also informed by the relational aspect of therapy, putting a lot of emphasis on being warm, caring, accepting and non-judgemental.

Practice description

I am currently conducting all sessions online for the foreseeable future. I completed specialised training in order to practice safely and ethically online and hold a Certificate in Online Counselling.

My first session

Our initial session will be what is called an 'assessment session'. This will allow me to get to know you better so I can give you a more informed feedback regarding my suitability as your counsellor and answer any questions you may have about the process. After this session, you can have a sense of whether you click with me and make a more informed decision regarding whether you would like to start working with me.
