About me and my therapy practice
I am an experienced and qualified counsellor (MSc Counselling Psychology) with over 16 years’ experience of counselling adults with a wide range of concerns such as depression, anxiety, stress, self-esteem, relationship difficulties, workplace issues, substance misuse, domestic abuse, sexual trauma. I offer short, medium, and longer-term counselling, depending on your needs.
I am able to work flexibly and can deliver counselling face to face / Microsoft Teams / telephone.
In addition to counselling, I am also a qualified supervisor and have over 10 years’ experience of managing and developing counselling teams and services.
Practice description
What is counselling and how can it help?
Counselling is a talking therapy; it is an opportunity to talk with a trained professional who will offer a safe, confidential, and non-judgmental space for you to explore any difficulties you may be experiencing.
Talking with a counsellor offers the opportunity for you to explore and find your own insight and understanding of your problem, and to make decisions about the changes you would like to make. Counselling is also useful in helping you to come to terms with those things that cannot be changed.
I am an integrative counsellor, which means that I use a variety of approaches and will tailor the support to meet your needs. However, it is widely acknowledged that in order for therapy to be successful, it is vital that there is a strong therapeutic relationship between client and counsellor, for that reason I offer an introductory session at a reduced fee or if you would prefer we can arrange a brief telephone call.
My first session
The introductory session allows us to explore what it is you would like from counselling, what I can offer, and to see if we feel comfortable working together. At the end of the introductory session, you may decide to book another appointment, or you may prefer to take some time to reflect on whether to continue or not.
If you would find it helpful to have a brief chat on the telephone before we meet, please feel free to email me and we can arrange a mutually agreeable time to talk.
