About me and my therapy practice

I offer a safe and welcoming service designed around you and the issues you wish to explore. I draw on different counselling and therapeutic approaches to work with you in a unique and flexible way. I work face- to-face, and online via a secure encrypted platform.

Practice description

Hello and thank you for visiting this site. Whoever and wherever you are, I offer you a safe and welcoming service designed around you and the issues you wish to explore.

My name is Susan Kinder. I am an experienced counsellor, psychotherapist and clinical supervisor. I am a Registered Member MBACP (Accred). I have an MA in Counselling, am a registered Relate Practitioner and Supervisor, I studied CBT at the University of York, and am accredited by BSCP (Tavistock) to practice and supervise IAPT Couple Therapy for Depression. I hold an enhanced DBS and my work is fully insured.

My therapy style is integrative, which means that I incorporate a variety of theoretical bases and approaches to help you to benefit from our work together.

Here are some of the services I can provide: one-to-one work in the counselling room; face-to-face work online; in the field, work with the assistance of horses.

I work with individuals, couples, and groups, and contract with corporate clients and EAPs to provide services for employees. I also provide consultative support to experienced and trainee supervisees.

I work in Keighley and the surrounding area.

My first session

The first session is a 2-way assessment session and will last approximately one hour. I will be assessing whether I can offer the help needed and I would like you to be assessing: “Is this where I want to be, is it the work I want to do and is it the right time for me to engage with therapy”.

The relationship and rapport between us is of paramount importance for our work to be therapeutic and therefore beneficial.

About me and my therapy practice

I offer supervisees the same core conditions that I offer to clients - a boundaried and ethical relationship of autonomy, trust, congruence, respect and emotional and environmental safety.

Practice description

I have 23 years experience as a clinical supervisor and currently supervise a range of practitioners ranging from highly experienced professionals to trainees at the very start of their therapeutic careers. I also conduct and run counselling supervision groups.

My original supervision training and experience was with Relate. I am a registered Relate Supervisor. I am also a qualified and accredited supervisor for IAPT Couple Therapy for Depression.  I have also worked for many years as a clinical supervisor in the NHS. As a consequence, I am able to supervise counsellors working with a wide variety of clients including individuals, couples, young people and groups.

I offer supervisees the same core conditions that I offer to clients – a boundaried and ethical relationship of autonomy, trust, congruence, respect, and emotional and environmental safety.

Please contact me if you would like to explore the possibilities of us working together.

My first session

At our first session together I believe it is really useful for us to get to know how we both work, and for you to be able to tell me what you want from supervision and for me to be able to tell you what I can offer.  I can offer you a formal contract or the contract can be  verbal if that is more to your style of working.  Whichever you choose we will both be responsible for ethical practice as per the regulatory body  (eg BACP).
