About me and my therapy practice
I am registered with all insurance companies. First meeting is a FREE 1/2HR session.
This is an informal chat when you can ask questions and see if you feel comfortable. I offer a warm, friendly atmosphere. Easy free parking. Bus routes 1,7,12,14,23 within easy walking distance.
I have over 25 years experience working to help people improve their relationships and get more out of life. I am encouraging, compassionate and supportive in my approach. I aim to help you to build on your strengths and find new and more effectives ways to manage problems or difficulties. I have been on many training courses and have a lot of experience that I will utilise to tailor make sessions to meet your needs. My practice is open to all who seek a confidential, reflective and nourishing space to explore their ways of living and any distressing issues that they are struggling with in their lives. I work with children, young adults, adults, couples and family's.
I have worked in such a variety of setting that I am able to relate to a broad range of clients. I have worked with young people and their parents for any years. I have also worked with adopted individuals and their families. I have a special interest in attachment.
I am particularly fond of working with creative and artistic people and find that I have a large client group of artist, musicians, performers and writers. A lot of my clients are often therapists or those in training.

As an integrative therapist I have many skills and techniques which I can draw upon in my work. I will tailor these, as and when required, to deliver a service individual to you in whatever the sessions may require. This will, hopefully, involve you feeling safe and able to speak freely and openly so we can explore issues that may be disturbing or troubling you, your behaviour/thinking, your relationships, life performances and satisfaction with life. I can be challenging if required but the sessions are very much lead in a safe and appropriate manner that is taken at your pace.
We will invariably look at the past and see how this may be influencing your present situation. We will examine behavioural and family patterns and how we might go about breaking negative behaviours. We will be learning how to become more conscious of who you are, your impact on your relationships and the effect that this has on your life. We will explore new possible ways to behave, relate and think. If appropriate we can learn to regulate self, relax the nervous system and how to release past trauma. We can work through phobias or irrational fears so that you feel more in control of yourself and your future.
Sometimes clients come in a place of crisis, others want support or many to develop and grow more deeply in their awareness of self, others and the world around them. The reason and expectation for therapy usually dictates its duration. I am happy to work with short term and be more solution focused in our approach or to offer a more long term commitment.
Sessions are regular and usually weekly, unless you need additional support. Sessions are 50 minutes long and currently online. In the weeks between our meetings, the process of change continues within you. You might start to see things differently, to question you may have previous accepted as truths.
My first session
You have decided you want to change your life and you would like so help to do so, well done. You have taken a massive step by starting your search for a counsellor, which can be a daunting process, that in itself can take courage. I can offer a free half hour for us both to access if we feel we can work together well.
During the first session I will take a history, discuss what brings you to therapy, what your expectations are and agree on our contract. This includes explaining about our confidentiality agreement, your rights as a client and approaches I might use to assist you in your therapy.
For younger or more nervous clients it is possible, when appropriate for a parent, partner or supportive other to attend in a supportive capacity the initial session. This can be for some or all of the session.
At the heart of all constructive therapy is the therapeutic relationship. I am a genuine and genuinely caring person who takes the responsibility of my work very seriously. I commit whole heartedly to my clients and will support all those I work with as conscientiously and with integrity throughout our work together. I have regular supervision and I am ongoing learning and developing my practice which I think is reflected in my diverse on going trainings.
