About me and my therapy practice

* Please note - All counselling sessions are now online only until further notice

I initially qualified as an Integrative Solution-Focussed Counsellor and over the years I have gathered a range of additional training and experience in using different models and methods to create an eclectic, but client-centred style. This mixed toolkit means I can use a variety of approaches to work with you as an individual and in a way that really fits in with your needs.

Quite simply, different people want and need different things from Counselling.  Whether you need a solution-focused approach, want to work with your thoughts, feelings and behaviours to learn skills to cope and change, or whether you need your own space and time to share your story and explore yourself, your past or your worries; your needs will be my priority.

In your initial session, we will explore what you want from Counselling and together agree how we will approach this.

I qualified as a Counsellor in 2007, and have worked with people of all ages, and from all backgrounds. Over the years I have worked with a wide range of private, voluntary and statutory services, including schools, social care, health and education services, and children's and young people's services, as well as in private practice.

I enjoy working with people from all walks of life, and with whatever they bring or are struggling with including young people, adults, and parents & carers. I am particularly passionate about working with young adults navigating their way into adult hood and supporting the challenges, future-fears, identity questioning and anxieties that can come with this tricky transition.

My first session

It's natural to feel nervous about what to expect from Counselling. I offer an initial free half-hour online or telephone session where you can have an informal chat about what you feel you need from me and from Counselling, and to ask any questions before deciding if you want to work with me.

It's important that you feel comfortable  with me and that you feel I understand where you are coming from, so this initial chat also gives you an opportunity to get a sense of whether I'm a good fit for you.

Counselling sessions are currently all online through Zoom

I also offer Walk-and-Talk sessions - I advise a couple of Zoom sessions first before we start these just so we can go through the housekeeping and get to know each other before we head off outside. Please feel free to ask any questions about this.

About me and my therapy practice

I am an Integratively-trained Clinical Supervisor and predominantly work within the framework of the 'Seven Eyed' Supervision model (Hawkins and Shohet 2006).

I offer Clinical Supervision for Counsellors, Psychotherapists and other individuals working in helping professions such as Teachers, Social Workers, Healthcare Professionals and Mental Health Workers.  I also work as an external Clinical Supervisor for organisations, companies and services who offer supervision externally for their employed or contracted staff.

I work with practitioners from all backgrounds and theoretical approaches. I also have specific extensive experience of supporting practitioners and organisations offering services to children, young people and families, in particular those working in schools and other support services, and working online (including working safely and effectively with the unique challenges of working online with anonymity).

I want you to get the most out of your supervision, therefore it's important that we build a good relationship where you feel comfortable to share yourself and your practice openly. I expect you to take responsibility for what you need from your sessions, but your well-being is as much my priority as that of your clients so I take a relaxed, flexible and creative approach to how we achieve that.

Please contact me to arrange an informal phone call to discuss your supervision needs and to ask any questions.

All supervision sessions are now Online through video via Zoom.
